Happy Chappy and Jacobite Beers!!
Beer we are again! It's Saturday and by the rules emblazoned in the Blockchain itself that means it's time for beer. Wayhay!!
As I headed out to the shop to see what was on offer I saw a squirrel. Surely that means that spring is on the way? Hurrah! Double joy! Granted it was lying dead by the side of the road but I won't let that ruin my vibe.
First up this week we have a beer that sings to my soul, it's a...
What a splendid name, I have been called a happy chappy many a time in life. So I like this already. I wonder what the new wave ale bit is all about right enough!!
It's a good colour, a rich golden amber with quite the cheeky frothy head.
It's a pleasant beer. Not outstanding in any way. Little bit citrusy, little bit of hops. Not much in the way of bitter, it's very smooth. Maybe too much so. Still, it's a good enough beer to drink on a Saturday. I am relatively happy. I will give it a 7/10.
I don't know about you but what with Spring coming and all that, I'm feeling quite frisky!
Next up...
A Jacobite Ale, how peculiar! The Jacobites were a bunch of mad Scottish people in the late 17th and 18th centuries who fought the English.
Sounds like a regular Saturday night!
It's a lovely colour, not totally coming over on the camera but it's a twilight purple/burgundy/black. It's quite enchanting. I keep raising it up to the light and making coo'ing noises like a dove being tickled. It has a small but persistent head and the aroma is quite something. Bitter and sweet and seductive like dark toffee.
Let's taste it.
Oh my flippity jings!!!! It's awesome!!! It's like treacle toffee and beer and caramel and malty goodness. It's so smooth I feel like giving it my house keys. BOOM!!
All of the awesomes!!! I just can't believe how good it is!!
I think... I think the Jacobite Traquair is going to get...
Will, I can say nothing more. I am as happy as a pig in poop!
Happy weekend everyone!!
Thank you for posting @meesterboom.
Lovely Saturday Night Beer Review write-up.
Marvelous illustrations...history included as well...what more could Steemians ask of you....but deliver more you did......it looks like you included a two part jig. ^__^
It will be easy for anyone interested in history to remember Traquair Jacobite Ale......at least the Jacobite part.....the bottle's illustration is classic...looking forward to trying it.
All the best to you and yours. Cheers.
Snowing your way is it.....not here.....time for tea.....
I did like the design of the bottle and the associated history behind it all. I am glad it was a fantastic beer. I shall be seeking more from Traquair House!
Hehe, I enjoyed my little jig :O)
Cheers for popping in Missy!
You scottish can never let by gones be by gones can you! xD Just because the English tried to take over your country, I mean, just get over it man! You don't need to keep rubbing it in that you won by creating your own beer to commemorate the point! Especially making it soooo good! hahaha
Lol, I blame Braveheart!! Hehe.
It was an awesome beer
The Jacobite Traquair sounds awesome, I will have to try it, I think my local beer and wine shop carries that. thanks for the review!
I really liked it, I get anstsy when I award one a really good score, I keep thinking that everyone else will think its rubbish!
And cheers!
Yes a 10/10 would indicate it’s a perfect beer and I’m sure there are those who would not like it so really it’s your taste buds in action so that’s all that matters! Thanks for your upvotes to my reviews, I didn’t strike much gold yesterday with the beers I reviewed
Wow what an amazing vew to see my dearest gentleman enjoying his cold beer with some Bruce Lee Karat move...thank goodness that baby boom and the good lady were out enjoying SBD!!!! OH. MY. GOD.
I never thought I would see the day! I am beyond speechless. I am speechlesser! As the unofficial chronicler of you Saturday beer stats, this is tremendous news. Your intro made it seem like this was just an ordinary Sabeerday, but no. Nay, I should say!
I stopped everything I was doing when I saw it, and I couldn't even stand. Traquair will live on forever now. The next emu or alpaca that I will own will 100% be named after it. My God, man. You have my heart pumping. I forgot everything else that I was supposed to comment! I gotta have me a taste of a 10/10 beer stat!
I was amazed myself. Firstly I thought, oh aye, this is rather good then three more I had the better it got. It was stonking, and I didn't even have high hopes for it!!!
The bar has been set so high for the 2018 beers! I'll be amazed if there would be another 10/10 in the coming months. I still can't find my words for it. It's been 3 days, and the police said to wait for 48 hours before I file a report for them. So yeah, I'm heading over to the station right now. Those words must be found!
When those words are found there will be hell to pay. Mark my words!
Let the record show that my Boom Brother's words have been marked. As of writing, the search is still on for my missing words.
It's hilarious how familiar I am with the Jacobites and their history, the Stuart and king james and a faction that tried its best to get out from under English rule that ended in a final battle of Culloden, lol--all because I read the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon, and am now watching the showtime version of it. It's excellent actually. I'm not sure I ever told you, but Scotland has always been my favorite setting for books ;)
My guess is that beer was made in direct relation to the popularity of that series--I'm glad they did it justice, 10 out of 10, me wants it! Where is Wonka Vision when you need it, they should be working round the clock for that technology lol.
Oh that's smashing! I have saw the show being praised here and there. I will have to actually watch it. They certainly have done it justice.
Scotland is a fabby location for a book hehe ;0)
My dear Irish uncle's name was Chappy!!!!! Man you live in a beer paradise!
That's awesome, I have never heard anyone called that before!
It is a bit beery paradisey :0)
That... is one happy pig! Thank you for this wonderful information! I think I might start drinking again! Oh boy! Look out world! Here I come! It's a new day! Look at all these exclamation points!
The world would be a poorer place without them exclamation points !!! !!!!
I don't think I could possibly agree any more with this!!! Wow!!! So what if I yell and shake when I talk! Ignore that vein on my forehead please! I was born with it! Why am I still talking! Look! You don't even need question marks when you have these! It's amazing! Right! Magic lines!
I know! Question marks are more redundant!!! Right!! I am living them so much these magic lines and dots!!! But I write fast and am wondering if I can streamline them further!
I know!! I will remove the line and just leave the dot!!!!!! Like this. Wow. This is incredible.
Now I'm confused! I think! What the hell does this mean|
Happy chappy. . I can think of other names ha ha
Jolly fellow, smiley Wiley. That kind of thing ;0)
No where near :p
excellent beer report dear friend @meesterboom, the first time you score a 10/10 beer should be very good.
I must admit that it made me want some beer, send my lady to look for some super while I finish my work.
thank you very much for another great report dear friend
I wish you a marvelous weekend
I was most impressed. I didn't think there would ever be a ten. Cheers to you @jlufer!!
