Chocolate Cake Beers!
It's almost the end of the year!! How did that happen? It seems like only moments ago I had my top off and nipples out in the balmy summer sun and now? Now, I lurk indoors hiding from the snow and the rain drinking beers of ill repute because it's cold.
Well, that's the excuse I give the good lady!
So it's Saturday and it's the last beer post of the year for me. What does that call for?
Cake!!
That's right, it calls for cake. I love cake and I love beer. What could possibly go wrong?
To work then!
Mmm, yum-ilicious! A Black Forest Gateau is a fine thing. Apart from the cherries. Boak, I kinda hate cherries. Might not do this beer any favours then but I have an open mind, so let us get stuck in!
It's as black as a Doberman's back button! Always a good thing in a stout. Big enthusiastic tan head which quickly buggers off into the ether.
Not getting much in the way of scent from it so let's hear from video man!
Well there's a puzzler. A perfectly pleasant stout but in no way anything like a Black Forest Gateau. I might be being a little harsh but when I read words that mean things I do tend to get pissed off when the product does not resemble the words. Perhaps they should have marketed it as Perfectly Pleasant Stout that's not in the least bit cake-like.
There job done. 6/10 booms. Which might seem odd given I was a little down on it but it was nice as a plain old stout!
So, let's get back to some cake munching. And when I say cake munching I mean beer in the first degree!!
What can I say? Look at this!? I am glad I ain't got button flies on these jeans because they would be popping off like bullets when I read this description.
It certainly ticks all the boxes, so did the last however. Here is hoping that this one is a denser and finer cake of a thing. Oh yes and beery too!!
Oh my god! It slips from the bottle like ink from a squid's vulva. It's incredible looking. Like oil from a '76 Porsche T600. (I made that up)
But is it cakey? And is it good?
Let's go!
It has virtually no head. Possibly because of its viscous oily consistency. Not a bad thing though, I went out with a girl once and there was virtually no head there but there were other delights. Which goes to show you have to be holistic in your approach to judging things.
Oh man, this thing is strong. The bourbon is powerful, very malt whisky-like actually. At times it seems as if it might get the better of the beer but that's when the sweet chocolate comes in and saves the day. Then that odd dankness. It can only be the cypress wood. It's weird but good.
This hot donkey has to get a 10/10 booms!!
Man alive, I am going to drink this slowly and savour every last bit of dank muddy nonsense it has to offer!
Steem on into the new year everyone!!
Cheers!
Oh yummmmyyyy to the caribbean chocolate cake!! One of my gifts to my bro was a pint of bourbon barrel aged stout- can't remember the name, going to have to ask him and find out how it was!
They are usually pretty good so I bet he was well happy with it! This one was toperoo! Cheers lass! :OD
Never tried that before, now I have to get some! 😬

Tis truly awesome!
Wow. You get some really good beers over there. I would love to try those.
There does seem to be a craft beer explosion going on. They keep getting better and better!
Around here I feel like they experiment with the same flavors over and over again.
Citrus IPA, Imperial stout that tastes like charcoal, mostly flavorless lager that has a slightly sweet finish.
It's rare to find something that really catches my eye nowadays I think.
Maybe I need to head down to your part of the world.
I think you do need to head this way!
That's the standard kind of beers that prevailed here for the longest time. Good beers were a rarity and I want a huge fan. Even craft beer was much as you describe. then a few years ago a few players started making really interesting ones that actually tasted crazy good. I am a happy man as a result :0)
Another awesome sounding beer there! Siren are in the srea I grew up. I didn't know they were there, but next time I visit my parents there going to be little detour. I wonder if they're in today??
Hehe, that's excellent. They have quite the groovy range!!
Arghh, beer that is just good beer, but then has this layer of marketing bullshit over the top is the scourge of craft beer - but 'just a good stout but not what quite a black forest cake' isn't enough to get the people to buy.
Exactly. I am all for honest marketing, I would happily have bought a good stout but when they lure me with their shiny baubles I hate it!
Chocolate Cheers
Chocolate madness!! Cheers mate!
10/10 booms. What a way to wrap up this bear(d)ish year.
Hehe, gotta squeeze in that beard! Cheers dude!
Woohooo! Way to wind up the year with a 10/10!! Hahaaa I like your holistic approach to judging :D You, the missus and the boomlets have a fantastic New Year.
Hopefully the first beer tasting of 2019 brings us another 'hot donkey' lol
'
Hehe, I thought that was a great end too. It might have been utterly shit but thankfully it wasn't!!
Here's to holistic!! :0)
hahahaha awesome! I think I may need to catch up on some of these. And wait, I might just have a surprise for you in my next post....mmm I wonder what it could be. Wait and see....lol
Oh ho! I suspect I might have an idea!! I shall be looking out for it!!
hahaha :) I should be filming it today and will post it later. :)
Top notch!!
hahaha here it is, my valiant effort. Pales in comparison to yours, but fun nonetheless. haha

It is the same with wine - they give a description of all the tastes and then I taste nothing like that. Glad you finished off on a high note. May 2019 be blessed.
Hehe they do! Damn them when they do that!!
