One of the biggest motivations for a DIY trip is to stick to a budget and gain maximum value. It’s easy to miss out on certain savings when not researching or understanding certain aspects of the trip. For instance heading to certain sites may require collaboration with an operator for entry. In this instance it may be worth finding a suitable agent for that activity but there will be plenty to save on in other areas.

Catering is a big part of travelling and I find that sometimes the self-catered option to be the best. It allows freedom and perhaps even better meals at lower prices. Exploring the world of food shouldn’t be limited to a hotel or other venue, be adventurous and there will definitely be fun to be had on a budget.
