COINS AND TOKENS YOU SHOULD OWN AND HOLD ON TO LONG TERM

Hello my steemit family!! I now proudly call you my family because steemit has become a part of me. It is my day to day routine and has always been on my to do list. There is no single day that will pass without me taking a look into Steemit. I wake up thinking of steemit and go to sleep thinking of steemit each and every single day and night. I am so addicted to this platform to the point there are times i stay late into the night (sometimes until morning) reading articles, commenting on articles, upvoting or resteeming contents and also writing my own articles .

How Steemit changed my mindset

I was never that much of a blogger or writer. In fact, i hated writing and reading loads of words. Steemit however changed all that in ways i can't really explain. It has enabled me to get out of my comfort zone and do things i never thought i would do. I came here because of my love for crypto . I came because i was curious to find out what **STEEM **was and get to earn some STEEM.
Before STEEM, most of my focus and interest was mainly on Bitcoin, Etherium, Litecoin, Monero, Zcash and Dashcoin. Those were the only types of crypto i was interested in owning.
However when i came across steemit, signed up an account and started blogging, I began having a totally brand new epic experience. Most of the new comers can attest to the fact that one always gets a totally new experience whenever they start interacting and blogging on this platform.
There was and has been so much to learn from this community ever since i came. I have gained and i still continue to gain a lot of knowledge from you guys. That is why i will never ever say bye to Steemit.

I am officially stuck here with you guys . Till death do us part.

My vow brings us to the main reason as to why i am writing this post.

What does the main title read? Somebody please remind me...Oh!! It reads "COINS AND TOKENS YOU SHOULD OWN AND HOLD LONG TERM"

Yeah right!! I will be giving a list and a little description of some of the tokens and coins i think you should get your hands on and hold on to long term.

Well, without wasting any more time lets get to it straight away.

STEEM AND STEEM BLOCKCHAIN DOLLARS (SBD)

Steem is a blockchain database which supports social interaction and community building through digital currency rewards. This is the first ever digital currency that awards individuals or users who make useful contributions and add value to its community.

In the Steem blockchain, there is a fundamental unit called Steem (STEEM). It is a liquid currency that can be transferred from one user to another as payment and can also be exchanged or traded in exchanges.
Other tokens on the steem blockchain derive their value from STEEM.

STEEM POWER

To explain what steem power is to those that still have no idea what it is. I will keep it simple by using the definition that is on the steemit wallet.

Steem power is basically Influence tokens which give you more control over post payouts and allow you to earn on curation rewards.

Making transfers and transactions using STEEM or SBD is quick and fast since it only takes a few seconds.
The steem blockchain is one of the most active blockchains with numerous numbers of transactions per second.

Power up guys!! Power up.

As a steemit user or blogger, you might have probably earned some SBD from your posts or some given amount of STEEM.
Instead of sending the STEEM/SBD into exchanges so that you can trade them for cash or fiat, i think it's better to keep them into your steemit savings wallet or put them into a way better use by powering up.

Why you should power up

The more you power up, the more steem power you have. the more your steem power increases, the more your influence on this platform grows. Powering up your STEEM or purchasing more Steem Power is a better way to hold longterm since it takes a couple months to completely power down your account.
I strongly believe that as the Steemit user base and popularity increases, the value of STEEM is bound to explode. Since the other tokens derive their value from STEEM, their value will also increase.
You might also try purchasing some Steem Power Delagation on blocktrades.

No matter how much we are tempted to quickly trade all our STEEM and SBD for fiat, lets just hold on to them and power up more often. This way we will help the value of steem and steem blockchain grow. We will also reap some good profits in the near future.

EOS

I got to learn about EOS last year when i joined steemit. It is currently ranked number 10 on coin market cap.
EOS tokens are ERC-20 compatible tokens distributed on the etherium blockchain.

EOS wallet and where to get EOS tokens

To store EOS, you will need to have an ERC-20 compatible wallet. You can either use MyEtherWallet which is an online wallet and doesn't require downloading or you can use Metamask which is a chrome browser addon. I use both Metamask and MyEtherWallet.
As for a mobile wallet, download Coinomi Wallet from google play-store if you are an android user.
It is a great secure digital wallet that supports a long list of coins and ERC-20 compatible tokens. It also offers exchange services and is as easy as A,B,C to swap one coin or token to another since it has both @changelly and shapeshift in it.

BITSHARES (BTS)

Have you ever been curious to find out what Bitshares really is and how it works?

At first i completely had no idea what bitshares was. While browsing through my feeds on steemit, i came across a Bitshares Fan Art Challenge post by @officialfuzzy who is the bitshares co-founder.
I took part in the challenge but it didn't stop there.
I got curious and started doing some deep research on finding out what bitshares is. I even joined the bitshares discord in order to learn more about bitshares.

I actually learnt a lot of interesting stuff about Bitshares (BTS).I had to purchase some of it with some of my SBDs from @blocktrades.

Bitshares and Bitshares(BTS)?

In simple words, Bishares is a decentralized exchange platform or rather a blockchain based financial platform where you can trade various assets and cryptocurrencies.
There is absolute no limits on the amount to trade on the bitshares exchange. There is no withdrawal limits and you can trade things like Gas, Oil,Gold and Silver on this platform.

Isn't that both interesting and amazing?

They also offer low fees on transactions and its one of the cheapest exchanges you can find.

WHALESHARES

The term whaleshares is so farmiliar to many of us but do you really know what whaleshares is?

Getting to understand whaleshares

Whaleshares was founded by @officialfuzzy. Whaleshares is a special kind of token or useful special tool designed to help users with low steem power on steemit get upvotes from whales. It is not only used by users on steemit but also by users on Golos.

Little history on whaleshares

Whaleshares was founded as a result of conversations in the BeyondBitcoin hangout. It was founded alongside beyondbits and began as tag coins/community tokens.

How whaleshares work

Holders of whaleshares have the power to summon a whale to upvote their posts/post. You need to have a bitshares account in order to store or use whaleshares.
You can get a bitshares account here
Now that you created a bitshares account, get some whaleshares in it, head over to whaleshares.net and fill the form.
Simply copy and paste the steemit /Golos URL of the post you want to upvote or downvote and press go. You will be given a specific memo.
Go to your Bitshares wallet and send Whaleshares to the memo.
That is how you summon a whale upvote.
