Another bad suprise, which I fortunately was able to manage 👹🍣🎎 My Japan

Here we go! Somethings bad things just pile up and make me wonders if someone is playing a trick on me. Of course I know that complaining doesn't really get you anywhere, but at least it helps me to get my frustrations off my chest. And since we have this great blog here, it's exactly the right place to get rid off a little stress from time to time.

But what was going on?

One of our favourite topics has once again driven me to despair. A not working computer - who is not happy when their PC or laptop stops working without any prior warning? Especially when it's only two years old and its predecessor died after only two years as well.

Fortunately, this time it wasn't quite as bad and in the end I was able to get my laptop running again. But it was a lot of work, full of sweating, swearing and sometimes I was very close to throwing it out of the window.

I was then advised by professionals to send the laptop directly to Toshiba to find out the cause of the problem, and there they told me that the SSD hard drive was broken. Sure, why not? After two years, we should have expected something like that.

Of course not, modern SSDs should last much longer, but that didn't help me either. The offer from Toshiba to install a new hard drive for just under 450 € and then reset the laptop to factory settings soundes like a bad jke to me, as I only paid around 600 € when I bought it new.

To check then cost me about 50 €, but I was hoping that I could get my laptop up and running again by myself. I would only need a new SSD hard drive and then a raw version of Windows 10, which I only had to save on a USB stick.

The hard drive was quickly obtained and installed, but creating the ISO file for Windows turned out to be more complicated and frustrating than expected. My older replacement laptops had also started to act up at the same time and simply didn't want to help me create the ISO file. Again and again they gave me various error messages, which put quite a strain on my nerves.

This then led to loud expressions of emotion on my part, which in the end may have helped to get everything moving in the right direction. After several attempts, the Windows file was finally on the stick and the reinstallation of the operating system went more smoothly than I could have been expected at the time.

The laptop now even runs a bit faster than before, and since I fortunately also regularly save most of my data, the final damage was not too bad. Apart from a lot of frustration, strained nerves and lost time, the whole issue cost me around 100 €, which was significantly less than the manufacturer wanted for the hard drive replacement. I was already very frustrated by that time, so trying to get the laptop to work again myself eventually was a good idea.

It's always good to learn something new, and the satisfying feeling when the laptop booted up again and was ready to work made up for a lot of the previous frustration. Perhaps I was even feeling a little proud to have almost done it myself, which now helps to put a smile on my face as I write these lines.

All's well that ends well! That's how the whole mishap has to be summed up. I guess in the end I can accept how things turned out!
