HOPE IN HOPELESSNESS (ending part)
A short Story of a believing aged man.
READ HOPE IN HOPELESSNESS PART 1here
Everything happened so fast. Liz did not wake up early as usual, and when he touched her her body was already cold and there was absolutely nothing that he could do at that moment. It was totally unexpected for the family. She was okay and very healthy, With many dreams and aspirations that they have to attain with their aged life, But they’re so satisfied with their lives that they weren’t in a hurry for anything. There was always something they enjoy together; laughing, singing, composing songs and hymns which kept them from traveling or doing what they proposed to do.
Liz was fanatic about the scriptures and she spent hours doing research and studying each day. It was her long life dream to be an evangelist, she poured herself into her studies and research. She really enjoyed her faith in God.
They had a trip planned to visit some local churches few weeks, and he felt sad that Liz is not here again. She spent much time praying, reading the scriptures and gathering gifts for this trip, that he did not even have the heart to go alone without her. It will remind him too much of her being his spokesperson.
Joe sighed again, he got up to place his coffee cup inside the dishwasher, this time around he takes coffee late in the morning because there’s no one again around him. Perhaps one of their female children would want to visit and go to lunch with him today. He picked up his phone, to phone Marly their youngest daughter, but abruptly dropped the phone when he turned around. On the side of the chair where Liz used to sit was his bible that he kept, opened. He knew instantly that Liz was there with him and she was watching over him.
He gazed at the passage of the scripture that was opened by the breeze and it was the book of 1 Thessalonians 4:13 (ESV)
And for the first time he began to read!
But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words.
For the first time since she left, he felt a little more at peace. He fetched Liz’s laptop and began researching her recent bible studies . It was one of the recent topics that she studied, and it was right there also in her diary. He knelt down and began to pray, giving thanks to God for the hope of resurrection and for eternal life that he has granted to believers.
As he prayed, he noticed that a great burden was lifted from him, and joy for the first time flooded his spirit, and the peace of God descended on him.
Week of their visitation came, and Joe travelled around the local churches teaching about the lively hope and the resurrection of the dead through Christ Jesus. Amen.
