The Steemit Presentation Canvas

in #steem10 years ago (edited)

Introduction:

Yesterday I got an e-mail form the Bitcoin Boulevard Crypto meeting community in The Hague (The Netherlands). In their e-mail they kindly asked me if I would like to do a presentation about Steemit to there community members.

Since I'm a person who takes things seriously and professionally, it got me thinking. How am I going to give this presentation? Is there already a open source steemit presentation available? Or Is there someone that already did a greet job presenting Steemit that can be used for future presentation by others?.

I had these questions because I'm only going to say Yes to this great invitation and opportunity if I can actually bring something good to the audience. (We all know how boring or confusing presentations can get.) So its important to define your presentation content and make the story stick. Therefore have a clear goal on what needs to be told about Steemit, and at the same time not making things too complicated and long.

The Presentation method:

So It's important to choose the right presentation method to keep the attention of your audience and make the story stick. Since I have some experience in giving presentations I started to think about what kind of presentation format would fit this Steemit presentation, formats that popped up in my mind where:

TED(x)
PechaKucha

But in this case I think that a PechaKucha like presentation about Steemit would be the best solution. Since its consists of 20 slides that are shown for 20 seconds each keeping it short and memorable. Taking up only a total time of 6 minutes and 40 seconds.

20 x 20 = 400 Seconds

Presentation research:

So I started to do some simple "first layer of research" see what is already out there on presentations that are about Steemit and found this presentation of @clains together with these two posts he made about it; Steemit Workshop and Presentation and Steemit Presentation. Unfortunately I could not find any other presentations of this kind.

But if you did find one or have one please comment below, this so I can put that information right here in the article. This so others in the future have a nice overview of the Steemit presentations that are done.

Presentation Content:

For example lets say we go and use the PechaKucha presentation methode, what would then be needed to tell a full but not to complicated story about Steemit?

What would I put in the 20Slides?

Goal of the Steemit Presentation Canvas.

The goal of this Steemit Presentation Canvas is to in the end have an open source Steemit presentation format, that can be used by anyone that wants to give a Steemit presentation in there local (crypto) community. Whit this uniform way of presenting we can therefore spread a message that would stick to the audience. And because its uniform and created by the community we stand uniform in our way of presenting the story's of Steemit.

Support:

I hope that you as a Steemit community member would like to add your part to the creation of such a steemit presentation. So we can together put our efforts in to the ultimate Steemit Presentation.

Your Vision:

Even tho I might give this presentation, your vision on how you think Steemit is presented is very important. I'm only one voice of the steemit Community and I rather speak from the voice of 10.000th steemit members. To show how Steemit works and Why it's so Important.

Thanks in advance for your help, I will be doing more research right after this post. Hopefully I'm able to do this awesome presentation in the way I mentioned above.

Lekker hoor

We're planning a presentation at an SF Bay Area meetup...it will be held on Aug. 25th.. we can post slides so you can use it as a reference. Maybe I can prepare and transcribe a presentation well beforehand. I think each person's style is probably going to be different and we should experiment. There are usually two different audiences to present for: crypto & non-crypto. We're probably going to tailor one for the non-crypto audience.

Wow Thanks @steemrollin! The one I'm Asked for is on the 14th of september so there is still enough time. That would be a great addition. Ether way I'm Going to make a list of all presentations so all of us can dig from that info.

Next to that I also thought about your note a Crypto & non-crypto version and maybe even one for "beginners" advanced and experts. So depending on your audience you can pick the right presentation.

I think that it would be wise to have the input of @dantheman or @ned on this one!

But I Would also love your input if you have some ideas! Cause you are part of the community to!

Thanks that is indeed a helpful one! Noted in the list.

Steemit needs to be presented as the evolution of social media merging online community with blockchain technology

That is definitely something that should be leading in my opinion. Steemit is quite a disrupter in the area of social media, and will therefore I hope change the future on how social media its business model will continue.

puts on tinfoil hat it is only a pittance that steemit is paying the authors for their articles in comparison to the money they top accounts make from running steemit, that is slightly better for those who don't have as much invested into the company specially when compared to social media giants like facebook or twitter where the user gets nothing except a nice place to talk to their friends while giving away all their marketing data. takes off tinfoil hat.

very interesting, maybe you can talk to ned or dan . i am trying myself to talk to as many people i can to spread the word !!

if you have time, please have a look at my new post
