My First Week As a Programmer: Creating a Navigation Bar

I recently went to a tech event in Ikeja, where I had the chance to discuss with one of the trainers who encouraged me to prioritize programming.

I then gave becoming a front end developer (programer) a lot of thought before deciding to give it a shot.

After that discussion, I had to sign up for a three-month online course hosted by the state's technology, the same people that hosted the tech event at Ikeja, and my programing adventure officially began.

After spending a significant amount of time reading W3schools and attempting to learn about HTML and CSS, I was given my first programming task, which was to create a navigation bar. Apparently, this was the simpler task to complete.

Even though I was willing to do it, I was extremely apprehensive going into it because, for one thing, I knew nothing about coding; for me, reading was different from doing. Nevertheless, I made the decision to give it a shot and not make excuses.

My online trainer advised me to utilize notepad rather than vscode since, in his perspective, he wanted his students to memorize the codes.

Anyway, I began by searching for several examples of nav bars on Google, and once I had a plan, I got to work.

I began by utilizing a markup language in my code before adding other elements like head, style, and body. I then used a font family with the same verdana and a light blue background.

After that, I typed what I wanted to appear on the screen and used text-align, but strangely enough, despite using a line break, there were no spaces.

After a bit of experimenting, I finally realized that in order for it to appear organized, I needed to justify the content and apply display-flex.

I went on to use more tags that I had previously seen in W3schools, and I now feel as like I spent way too much time on something that was meant to be simple.

I finally reached a point where I felt confident in and pleased with myself after trying various things.

Even though I don't really understand many programming terms or even much in general, doing this task made me feel proud of myself.

Since I've always wanted to work in technology, I sincerely hope that I can keep doing this and become an expert in this field.
