Weekly blog recap - Week 1
Hello fellow Steemit enthusiast.
My first active week on Steemit just came to a close and today I would like to celebrate with you guys about the success of my blog. By success I mean the steady growth of followers I have been experiencing with every new post.
This steady growth is pretty apparent to me, as I am constantly staring at my upvotes, followers and so on, in anticipation. I decided to post a recap of the blog for the previous week every monday. This will allow all of us to put things into perspective when the community surrounding my blog keeps growing. Also such information might be particulary interesting for future users who can look back at now and think to themselves: "Ah the good old days!"
Also I plan to do such an analysis at the end of every month that will be based on weekly numbers, to further put things into perspective.
Blog Recap Format
This post will contain information about the blog as a whole and additionaly about various topics I put together in the series. Right now the various topics are:
- The Science Series
- The Hiking Series
- The Cryptoreview series
- Miscellaneous
Also I choose some indicators that in my opinion pertain some information about the success or failure of the blog, and how it is evolving through time. This indicators are:
- Number of new followers on a given day
- Number of upvotes/post on a given day
- Earnings on a given day
- Earnings per upvote on a given day
By also including some comments when significant movement is spotted in the indicators, one can possibly deduce some information that is possibly important for the developement of their own blog. This includes but is not limited to the information about which posts are more profitable or interesting to the readers.
Before I get started I must also stress that the numbers written later will be the numbers that I get at the end of the day!
General Blog Recap
Lets start with the general blog recap.
Firstly we can see the number of upvotes/post on the left and number of new followers on the right, for each day. We see an interesting anticorrelation between the two. This can be significant or is just a statistical anomaly. We will see in future weeks. But right now it seems that posts that are very succesful in upvotes do not contribute much to your followers at least on the same day. More statistics must still be acquired.
Earnings per post and earnings per upvote show an expected correlation. We see that my earnings/post are steadily rising which makes sense with the growing number of followers. Also the earnings/upvote are steadily rising which means poeple with more and more SP are noticing and upvoting my posts, which is extremely good.
With more statistics it will be interesting to see how my earnings/post grows with the growth in my follower count! Generally we see a satisfying upward trend with a sizeable peak in Day 3 (Friday) when I published my first part of my Science series on Fusion. It got a lot of attention in the @curie and @steemstem community and I got a lot of traction in the steemit community because of it. The post also got mentioned in the weekly SteemSTEM Distilled!
Topic Recap
Now we can look at the recap of the indicators in different categories.
We can ignore the miscellaneous category for now, because the only thing included is my Introduction Post. Such introduction posts generally do well so not much information is to be gained.
A lot can be learned from the great difference in upovtes when comparing the Cryptoreview series and the Science series. The Science series is for now vastly more succesful. This might be the case because I got a majority of my followers with the Science series, and they might not be that interested in cryptocurrency reviews in general, or more specifically, my cryptocurrency reviews. Nevertheless I intend to post more content in all these categories. Especially in the Science series, where feedback from respected members of the community was very positive.
Another important thing regarding profitability of writing about a topic is of course the earings from a post. Here they are shown in SBD. No curation reward is deducted yet, so these are all the earnings.
It is obvious what brings home the bacon. But still. I intend to keep posting about all the topics I am interested in.
Notable Events and Summary
- I started actively blogging on wednesday.
- On Friday (day 3) my Science series post was massively succesful and also upvoted by @curie and @SteemSTEM
My total earnings for last week were 84.5 SBD. The number of followers at the end of Week 1 is 45. The number of upvotes received is 195.
I am very happy about my first week. I think it shows that with quality content and a little luck getting noticed, anyone can be at succesful if you consider my active time on this platform has been only 5 days and I earned 84.5 SBD.
