Fire-tower in Kostroma

This is the central square of the city of Kostroma, and one of the main monuments of our city is the fire tower. It was designed by its architect Fursov. If you turn on the imagination, it becomes clear that the tower is built according to the pattern of the temple. Inside the building are two floors with spacious rooms. Formerly there were fire brigades, stables and barrels of water. Later, fire trucks replaced horses. Today in the tower is the State Museum.

Literally a few years ago in the city there was a tradition to feed pigeons here. They are absolutely not afraid of people and sit down in their own hands. By the way, pigeons do not consume everything, as it is commonly believed, and in the evening you can observe yellow patches of untouched millet on the square. In summer the square turns into a contact zoo. Many families bring their children here to watch the birds.
