The largest stadium in the world — North Korean stadium Rungnado 1st of May Stadium, was built in 1989 in Pyongyang. It is able to accommodate 150 thousand people. The stadium has 8 floors, its height is 60 m, and the total area is more than 207 thousand sq. m.

The stadium was named in honor of the island of Rungra and in honor of the first of may, the day of international solidarity of workers.

On top of the largest stadium resembles a flower Bud, as sixteen arches form around the arena a kind of flower.

In 1995, 190 thousand spectators gathered to watch the wrestling competition at the May Stadium! In addition to sporting events (unlike the largest stadium in Europe where only sporting events are held), the stadium often hosts receptions, parades and celebrations.
