My Toddler's Very First Christmas Morning She Was Aware Of

in #life6 years ago

Today marked an important moment in my daughter's life: the first time "Santa" visited our house. Historically, on Christmas morning my husband and I loaded up the car with gifts and headed to my mom's house to celebrate "Santa" visiting with her, my siblings, and my brother's wife, and my niece. Now that we have a kid though, Santa has to visit our house and presents have to be opened to create the magic of Santa for our daughter.

Okay, she's only two and can't talk in sentences yet so she has no idea who Santa is or what Christmas is. Still, my husband and I wanted to celebrate this first milestone. Little Rabbit is so excitable and we knew this would be a really fun Christmas. While Little Rabbit slept, Santa visited her and left her gifts under the tree and she woke up to lots of fun things to do.

She opened her very first gift all by herself. She's always needed help before now. She figured out the process very quickly. She knew that taking off paper would reveal some fun new toy to play with. We kept it simple and got her little toys like Mr Potato Head and little figurines. We got her one big gift which was a toddler kitchen.

I had a lot of fun playing kitchen with her. I taught her how to cook on the stove and she mimicked me. We fed pretend food to her toys and she said lots of "yums". Little Rabbit was so darn sweet and cute all day. She was smiling and having fun all day long.

And of Course Tossing The Toys Aside To Play In The Box

We opened gifts for the first time at our house then loaded up the car and Little Rabbit got gifts from Santa at her grandmas house with our entire family. She got spoiled which is okay. She was such a sweet kid and everyone enjoyed watching her first Christmas where she could interact and open her own gifts. She got bored after maybe three gifts at her grandmas so some presents will get opened another day. With a toddler, they can be happy with very little. She got some blocks and that kept her attention for quite a while and she didn't care about opening anything else.

We're putting up some of her presents for later. She's still little and can't play with things other relatives got her like markers and Play-Doh. We'll stagger giving her gifts over the coming months as she grows and develops. All in all we really enjoyed Little Rabbit's first real Christmas she could enjoy. I loved playing with her and her toys and watching her have fun. It was a nice holiday and after months of bad luck, it was nice to have a few really nice days.

Happy Holidays Everyone!

That looks like fun. Blocks are a good gift, too! No Legos yet, I'm guessing.

It was fun. But she got a set of over 100 wood blocks and they are everywhere. I keep stepping on them and boy do they hurt. lol. Glad she's not old enough for Legos because they'd be even harder to clean up.

They hurt more on the feet, too.

Merry Christmas, looks like she's having a blast.

Merry Christmas! She did have a blast. And today she had even more fun since she slept and recharged.

Fantastic shots of your happy little rabbit... :) She is so precious! :)

In the last two years, I've assembled two toy kitchens; one for our great granddaughter, and one for my newly married brother's wife's granddaughter... :)

Someone ratted me out that I can build things.... ;)
