Did you know ... the first Sony product was a device for cooking rice? And not particularly successful.
One of the reasons Sony's founders Akio Morita and Masaru Ibuka to focus on electronics was that immediately after the Second World War electricity fell dramatically. This led would-be entrepreneurs to focus on the production of electrical appliances that can be used in everyday life.
The electric orizovar was quite primitive device, which consisted of aluminum electrodes attached to the bottom of a wooden vessel. Rice it often remained or undercooked or overcooked. The prototype still kept in the archives of Sony's Shinagawa as a reminder of the era before electronic gadgets bring worldwide success of the company.
