In general, there is a mental tension between exploration and exploitation. When we explore, we are concerned with the wide-ranging, exotic and the desire to learn. We have spent a lot of our lives somewhere between these two extremes. There are functional benefits to each of these patterns. If we are not explorers, we will not venture out of the caves. If we do not use our trust in what is familiar, we will be exposed to many dangers and perish, but there is a need for a healthy balance. Your internal exploration is often diminished because of your overworked mind as with your experience in the external environment.
In everyday life you may find yourself pressing your mind in different ways, such as keeping a list of groceries for later purchase from the supermarket or repeating the name of someone you just met so that you do not forget him or practice your conversation before entering the meeting.
