Anyone Else Confused About How to Please Steem Audiences Right Now?
Yesterday, we ran a little experiment, can a single post on a plankton account reach trending. Here's the answer and some discussion on what's next. Also, some things I don't get about steemit politics these days.

Can get through to video. All the same you can't separate politics from daily living. Steemit and Steemian can't be left out.
I'm not talking about real world politics being talked about on steemit, but internal politics on steemit.
With a depressed market like this I think all the good blog readers might still be afraid to jump on steemit. So much FUD struggle and too many bots pumping out value to super insignificant work. I still follow mark. Hopefully SMT’s shake things up enough for our platform to evolve. @ned put out some pretty good points in the new roadmap update.

I'm new. I posteda video and a couple of short posts and i was awarded $30!! I don't get how other than i had an email saying i was 10th in humour....I still don't get how it all works....

You should probably go back and read the white and blue papers. The entire process here is supposed to be, 1. prize pool is released every day a specific amount of steem. 2. individuals account holders vote on content they find to be useful, or value adding, or entertaining 3. rewards are assigned to those post the community puts the most value on, based on votes and vote value 4. rewards sit for 7 days to be increased by upvotes, decreased by downvotes, or changed by the price of steem on the market. BUT recently, vote buying became a major way for big accounts to make $$$$$$$$$ making the average voters vote irrelevant. The only promotion tool on steemit that is automatic, is the new/hot/trending lists. Over 17% of the prize pool is being given out to users that BUY VOTES instead of building an audience and being upvoted by the community. That's why it's a problem. Most of that money goes straight to the top, where people get exposure their work does not deserve, unless they earned it by getting real votes from real users.
Question: are you the creator of the videos you're sharing? If not, be prepared, you probably won't get to keep that reward. It should have been flagged for copyright infringement. Plagiarism is a no-no here.

i'm sorry to say, haven't see your vid yet. I will later on but just wanted to post a small reaction. I am trying hard to build an audience on steemit, and notice that it isn't that easy. Of course you have to put effort in it. I agree on the Whale-plankton compare. Money makes money, also on steemit. I used resteemservices myself to try to reach a bigger audience. My reason is that I do think I have good content to share but cause of fact that posts turn up with the speed of light it isn't getting noticed by the people who I want to reach (people whith the same interest or stuggles), you are gone from the 'new' list in a split second. I do believe that if you hold on to your posts, keep posting and participating in other people's post eventually you can grow on steemit. But nowadays it seems that the whale-people indeed got upvotes (big time) for every kind of content, quality or not... People admire them and hope to get a piece of the pie if the contribute to the whales.. And the little fishs or plankton got the same reaction from people just started or without any good contribution to the platform which results in nothing...absolutly nothing... :) Those where just my two cents (as steem dollars as you wish ;) ) Have a great day..
