First Prey Of The Summer
This one is most likely a fieldfare (turdus pilaris) of which there are many on the trees surrounding our house. We wrapped it in a couple of tissues and put it in a waste basket in the kitchen and immediately took the waste bag to the trash bin outside. It was still warm and most likely had been killed only moments before.
The huntress came from inside only to wonder where her pray had gone. Helmi had a little blood on her right cheek making her look like a hairy vampire before she cleaned herself up. I don't particularly like the sound of fieldfares. I hope Helmi can fix that. Our hairy little contract killer.
Helmi is a badass :) I always think it is kinda funny in a macabre way when cats leave "presents" of their kills for their "owners". Of course no one really owns a cat, they are the boss. But it is nice of the cats to think of us poor humans who can't kill our own birds.
Helmi is one quarter ragdoll. That particular breed typically chooses one family member as its favorite. In Helmi's case it's my wife who feeds her. Helmi loves accompanying my wife to the garden when she's tending a flowerbed or something. When she's correcting papers at her desk, Helmi is often found taking a nap on the desk next to the computer.
So sad to see this poor bird!
