A Hike Around a Lake: November 6 2019
Do you see what I am seeing? It has been a long time that I saw that many little duds all at once!! While I encourage wildlife in my garden, it is to dry that water does not stick around and I don't have a pond for frogs and such.
This is where I found them. By I, I actually mean my daughter in law who was hiking with me today. I had walked right by them when she started to make happy noises because she discovered the little dudes. Both of us not being very familiar with some (okay, many) species of beings, we weren't sure if we are looking at frogs or toads? Do you know?
Look what we found after hiking for a few miles!! It was a cool spot to hang out. The sad thing was tons of trash in the area. PEOPLE!!! Sometimes, I just want to scream! I am embarrassed to say that I didn't have anything on me to pick up all that trash. It would have made a great clean planet post.
This was written on the side of the swing we were sitting on.
"Change is a good thing."
But changing the area to a trash heap doesn't seem like an improvement to me. maybe that is why the builder of the swing wrote this on the back.
While we were there, we got to see some rowers training. The Olympic training center is just across the street from the lake. We were pretty sure we saw some future Olympians working out.
We walked about 8 miles - the rest of the day was the usual.

Thank you so much!! I agree. People are so careless and trash all over is a big problem. I am going to always carry a big trash bag and some gloves in my backpack from now on...

We need to take care of the planet. I’m not sure who people expect to clean up after them. Maybe we should all bring trash bags everywhere we go! I think the Clean Planet initiative is awesome.
