Fruits on a platter, brings family together
As a kid growing up, I was taught to eat fruits everyday. My mother would slice different types of fruits and served them on a plate to be shared. Some days, it can be a selection of fruits such as mango, apple and orange slices. Sometimes, we would have slices of watermelon with honeydew or pineapple. If my mother felt hardworking, she would remove the skins. On other days, she would just slice them with the skins on and we would use a spoon to scoop up every bite of the fruit from the skin. Either way, we enjoyed every bite together as a family, in the living room, in front of the telly, with an array of fruits served on a platter on the table in front of us.
Now that I have moved out, I am always reminded of the good days of family togetherness with a platter of fruits. Out of habit, I will eat fruits everyday and usually with breakfast. My favourites - sweet papaya and watermelon with some apples. Apples are a must because as the saying goes "an apple a day keeps the doctor away" :) But I have to admit, my tongue sometimes dislike some apples that gives an after effect of biting.
My favourite section at the supermarket or grocery is always the fruits section. And there is a grocery near me that sells sweet papayas and watermelons no matter which one I choose. The truth is, I don't really know how to choose a sweet papaya or watermelon but somehow, all that I have bought so far, were sweet and juicy. I can't help but to believe that this supermarket sells all juicy and sweet fruits :).
I just love how vibrant the colours of fruits are in the supermarket.
Earlier this year, I was on a detox diet and one of the options for breakfast was fruit smoothies. At that time, I would mix whatever fruits I had in the fridge and smoothie it. On one of the days, I had strawberries, mangoes, oranges and bananas, I sliced them into cubes or halved whichever that can be halved. I put them all into a blender and sprinkled some grind seeds and nuts mixture on top:
Then, I added some shreds of carrot and a splash of soymilk:
Whenever the blending process began, it was always such an excitement to anticipate how the smoothie would taste like. Would it taste more banana-ish or strawberry-ish or maybe orangey?
After the blending process was completed, the smoothie was enjoyed for breakfast. This particular blend was an equal taste of strawberries and bananas. I did realise that bananas can overpower a smoothie but I didn't mind. Plus, it felt healthy :)
I think I should do this smoothie the next time I get together with my family. Then, it would be fruits in a smoothie, brings family together :)

I wonder if smoothies are healthy. I once read is not either unless you make it and drink at once. I cannot we are as a child. Perhaps we were lucky. Never one us overweight good teeth. It was the time we had to be grateful we had on the table. Thank you for your entry. You have number 7.
Please read the new contest which is already online for the theme that has to be answered. Happy Saturday and good luck.
Thank you @wakeupkitty! I wish you a happy Saturday too.
I thought I was late for 2.24 and had updated to 2.25 when I realised that 2.25 had questions to be answered and then I removed 2.25, now I put back 2.24 :D
Yah, I think if we leave it too long, it will be oxidized and all nutrients will be lost. The best is to make it and drink it immediately. And since we know what we add in, I would like to think of it as healthy :) No added sugar, etc that most shops would do to add taste. But nothing beats eating the fruits as they are.
