Strange day over here and a strange week for me with some travel and various tasks which kept me from going into editing frenzy. And thus the 2019 Marathon of Sofia photos are not yet ready, except for another teaser shot.
The leading group of men. Africans, of course. They are the best marathon grinders.
But what do I know, I am just a photo grinder.

But maybe I am biased, as I am a South African Lol

Well, Kenya and Ethiopia mostly ;) Probably we're too far for South Africans to travel for the event. The prize pool is not big enough to attract the best athletes. The best time was 02:15:55.
I think that you are correct my friend as it's far to travel for our guys.
Maybe if the prize pool grows.

Marathon runners are a very special group, I used to second my husband in many runs in early years, eventually giving up in his fifties due to back problems.
Africa has some exceptionally strong marathon runners, one needs to remember lung capacity also comes into play along with build and height, a fascinating sport testing ones limits.
