Modern Britain Could Learn a Thing or Two About Colonial Scrip.
In this report, I cover the early market action from London on Friday, November 8th, 2019. I look briefly at the precious metals, the stock market, the dollar, the bond market and the price of WTI and Brent crude oil.
Today I look at how both of the major political parties in the UK are promising more government spending and borrowing which will mean more debasement of the currency. The Brexit question is, of course, keeping the public distracted and as a result, very few will be ready for the inflation that is coming.
With that in mind, I will look at how the American Colonies actually got away with issuing Bills of Credit or debt-free currency for a while and how they prospered as a result of it. Unfortunately, the Colonial masters in London became aware of this and put a stop to it with the Currency Act of 1764.
My conclusion for the day is that until the general public takes control of the money supply the bankers will be in charge and it will be a government of the bankers, by the bankers for the bankers.
