High on a Mountain Top
Edenvale Ward Youth on top of the Drakensberg Mountain today.
A Young Single Adult in our Ward, Crystal Hughes, is leaving to go on Mission this Tuesday and requested that we take her to the top of the Drakensberg before she leaves. So at 2:30am this morning, 19 of us in 3 cars left Johannesburg and drove 375 km. Hiked 8 km up to the top. It was freezing with a strong cold wind.
We sang a hymn High on a Mountain Top, sheared a scripture and heard a powerful testimony from Crystal.
We were back in Johannesburg y 7:30pm
Wow. This brings back memories @mambaman. I once spent the night in the Drakensburg mountains when I got lost and it started to get dark. Fortunately it was summer so, although it was very cold, it wasn't dangerous. it would have been more dangerous to keep walking in the dark! 😊

How did you get lost?
It turned out our map was out of date @mambaman. We thought we had taken a wrong path but, in fact, the path had been closed for a couple of years due to a landslide.
As we thought we'd gone wrong we didn't retrace out steps and then got hopelessly lost and then it got dark.
Once the sun rose we retraced our steps from the day before and found our way back to the camp site. 😊
Thank you Do you mind if i share this experience with youth that i take hiking in the Drakensberg. Some of the people we take up there have never been there and wonder off and get upset when I real them in again. 😁😁
No problem at all @mambaman. As I mentione, we were lucky it was the height of summer. Even though we built a fire we got very cold. If it had be later or earlier in the year it could have been a very different story!
