“The sky's been crying, The tears rolling down my door”

song ~ “The Sky is Crying”
artist ~ Elmore James

The sky is crying, look at the tears roll down the street
The sky is crying, look at the tears roll down the street
I'm waiting in tears, looking for my baby, and I wonder, where can she be?

I saw my baby one morning, and she was walking on down the street
I saw my baby one morning, yes, she walking on down the street
Made me feel so good, until my poor heart would skip a beat

I got a bad feeling, my baby, my baby don't love me no more
I got a bad feeling, my baby don't love me no more
Now the sky's been crying, the tears rolling down my door     (Image source)

This 1959 song by Elmore James has become one of the most enduring blues tunes. The title alone makes it one of the true classics of the genre.

No Tears of Sadness

These lyrics were inspired NOT by any tears of sadness shed over a lost love, but, quite unironically, by a rainstorm during the recording session.

In 1960, it reached Nubmer 15 on the charts. Since then, it has been covered by many artists, including Sonny Boy Williamson II, The Yardbirds, George Thorogood, and (of course) Stevie Ray Vaughn.

Sunshine on Sorrow

In April 1960, James recorded a more melancholy version, which he titled “The Sun is Shining” – which, ironically, features lyrics that are blusier than those of “The Sky is Crying.”

It just goes to show that you don’t need a weatherman to tell you when tears come raining down.     (Image source)

After reading your explanation regarding the lyrics of the song, which is well understandable.
That lyrics reminded me of the year 1999 when in Venezuela there was a lot of death and the sky announced what would come to Venezuela with the election of that president that led us to a terrible debacle.
In that year December 15 there were many landslides due to the large amount of storm-like rain that fell on the mountain called the Avila, that produced the landslides that affected a large city being under the mud.
It was very painful for many Venezuelans who lost relatives in that mudslide.

Tragedy of vargas

I apologize but the lyrics reminded me of that. I'm a survivor.

Friend @majes.tytyty

Thanks again for consider me. I tell you with my heart, thank you. It will be well used to help others.

It is very noble on your part.

A big hug very fraternal. and virtual for you.

I'm glad the lyrics resonated with you. In many blues lyrics, the story is that of a "survivor." The situation may be bad, even horrible, but the fact is that anyone who is experiencing the situation has survived until now ... and will obviously survive longer.

All the best!

Thanks my friend for that song
