This monument is known to many, but you may be interested to know a few interesting facts and details. This is one of the symbols of our city. This column is located on the main city square. It adorns the collections of thousands of photographers from all over the world.
This column was erected in 1834 in honor of the victory in the Patriotic war of 1812 over Napoleon.
This monument is located on the surface without any external fortifications.This is its uniqueness.
It is the world's largest granite monolith, standing floor weight of its own weight. It stands on the base, which are 1250 piles driven to a depth of 6 meters.
The weight of this column is 600 tons, the total height is 47.5 meters.
The trunk of the columns are made from a monolithic piece of pink granite mined in the quarry Piterlaks (Finland).
At the top you can see a bronze angel with a cross, which symbolizes peace and quiet. For several centuries, this granite miracle adorns our city and is its hallmark.

Hi! This economic forum coincided with the celebration of the birthday of our city. This year he turned 315 years old. The month of may is always very eventful. A lot of different events take place daily. Therefore, this economic event did not greatly affect life in the city. It is always well organized and there are no special restrictions and hindrances for ordinary citizens. This attracted many artists and musicians, tourists, guests from different countries to our city. Of course, security measures have been strengthened and everything that should be connected with this. Everything was very fun and interesting. Yes, of course, the streets became even more crowded, but we are used to such celebrations and all treat with great understanding. Thanks @leveuf, for the good comment! I'm happy to hear that you are able to enjoy your city even with these important events. Not only in my city in which is a major problema when the president comes, but I've seen in other important cities that these fórums causes trouble between the citizens because of the security meeasures.

Yeahhhhh I've traveled with a russian friend one day, one of the funniest trips of them all !

Nothing was wrong, the guy became one super good friend! We hitchhiked together in Argentina and shared lots of laugh.
