A cool place to be when you are hungry

Hungry Place is a restaurant inside a supermart. I would say it is a very good idea for business diversity to have a restaurant inside a grocery store because, for people like me who play busy, we can have a good meal while doing our groceries.

And this restaurant is even more inviting because of its outdoor setting with fence and flowers enclosing its area.

When I got to the counter, my focus was on the Japanese donburis on the overhead menu. However, the crew said all donburis are not available.

I switched to the next menus. Korean and Chinese dishes are the other options. Most Korean dishes are spicy, or so I thought, and I did not want to experiment so those are out of the list for now.

That leaves me with the Chinese rice bowls. I also like seafoods so I ordered the stir fry squid rice bowl.

The restaurant is a self-service style. You pay for it, wait for your order to be called and go get it from the counter.

While I was waiting for my order on my seat, I noticed that the tables got occupied so quickly. There were only few when I arrived.

When the crew motioned to me, I stood to get my order on the counter.

"This is stir fried squid? It looks like stir fried vegetables," I thought but did not say a word.

I brought my tray to my table and stared at the bowl. I was trying to figure out where the squids are. I was also wondering about the sauce. Mayonnaise? Mayo on rice? I haven't tried that so I wonder how this will be. It looks like I will be experimenting after all.

I can't move on about the squid so I dug into the rice. Ah, there are the squid rings! There are fairly enough of them.

The mayo tasted good. It was not the typical mayo taste which made me wonder so I looked at the menu photo which I took. That was when I realized it is teriyaki mayo. So, the fried rice is a combination of Chinese and Japanese touch after all. Though I have to admit, the yangchow fried rice (which is basically this rice bowl) is a Chinese dish.

It looked like I was musing over my meal toomuch that other diners were all done and I was the one left from our batch of diners That one over there is a new "batch." Admittedly, I enjoyed the combination of veggies and squid that was made really good by the "special" mayo

Howdy macoolette! A nice review and the food looks good. I've never had squid before but I bet it's good. Love the name of the restaurant! lol.

You saidon my old posts that you never had prawn or shrimp. Now squid. What do you eat?

That is true, you have a great memory! I don't eat much fish or products from the water but I like Tilapia, Cod, Salmon and Tuna. I guess those are the only things I eat from the water.

I would try squid in a restaurant but we never go to restaurants. I see restaurants through your posts! lol.

You're missing a lot then! Try at least the prawns... you don't need to go to restaurant for them. Maybe you or Mrs. J can drop by the wet market some time.

Prawns look creepy though. lol. There doesn't look like there would be any meat on them after you get through the shell and past all those legs! I will look for them the next time we go to the store. We don't have much in the way of supermarkets here though because we are out in the country.

Yeah, right. You're in the middle of isolation so it is indeed good to go out and try something new or different once in a while.

There is nothing creepy with prawns, just the very good taste that you are missing badly. 😄

Well I am constantly learning new things but I want to concentrate on developing our property here. My whole life I have traveled all over this country from border to border and coast to coast and lived in many different parts of her and experienced a great many things.

But now I want to settle down and work on this place. We plan to make it a little paradise to minister to hurting people. We want to put a couple guest houses in so if someone needs a safe place to stay they can come here. It's a real ministry that God has put on our hearts to build.

Wow, that's a noble endeavor! God bless you and your project!

@macoolette, the mountain of the Philippines erupted, how was it,

It has not errupted. It is just spewing sands for now. I hope it will not errupt anymore and eventually calm down. Thanks for asking.
