Happy through a box
I was traversing the foot bridge along Dela Rosa Street in Makati City on my way home on a Wednesday evening when I thought of having dinner so I would just settle when I get home. It was good that there are some restaurants along the foot bridge so I need not go farther.
I first came upon Tummy Box and there is another restaurant right next to it. With their glass walls, I was peeking through their overhead menus. Then I spotted the Special of the Day by Tummy Box. I got inside.
I ordered for the pork steak. While I was thinking of drinks, I noticed Happy looking up to me. I asked what's in the container and the cashier said buko (young coconut) juice. I can't help smiling back at that cute pikachu (?). I took a cup.
While I was waiting for my order, I noticed the other diners who were already there before I arrived were just killing time. They seem to be done with their meals but showing no sign of leaving yet. This is the beauty of not so crowded restaurant. You don't need to cram with your food and run. You can take your time waiting either for the rush hour traffic to subside or for a meet-up.
When my order was served, I was surprised that it was in a box. I looked around and realized that all the diners have boxed meals.
Okay. So that is where the name of the restaurant applies. Box. Even if you are not taking your food away. While I appreciate the idea of being "on the go," I feel bad about how many papers and trees are being sacrificed for the boxes.
Anyway, let's check my steak.
What I usually scare about meat dishes is when the meat came from aged animal that it become so chewy instead of crunchy. Sometimes the meat also smells. So far, those are not the cases with my steak.
The pork was crunchy and tender. The seasoning also tasted very good that I thought the pork was marinated before it was cooked. I also loved it all the more when I saw bones. For some reasons, I find meat with bones more tastefull than plain meats. I do not know if there is scientific explanation to that.
In short, the steak was very good.
I was enjoying my dinner whenthis group arrived and occupied the table to my left. I started much earlier than them but they finished their food and left before I did. That looked like a rush hour. However, I still took my time and finished everything before I got up, long after they were gone. See. That is what I was saying as the benefit when you dine in a not so crowded restaurant. I am almost certain that I may dine in here again if I get another chance to pass by the area.

Thank you very much! 💖😊
Love the idea of the name and the food looks pretty good but like you i hate the idea of how many papers and trees are being sacrificed for the boxes it seems pointless 😒
They say paper bags or boxes are environmental friendly instead of the styro plastics for takeaway foods and grocery items. However, I don't think any entity - individual or company - ever really made a study of the cost between one-time-usage papers and reusable plastics.
I know plastics are destroying the environment but that is because people do not have right discipline to dispose plastics properly. Using papers is more destructive to the environment because usage is too fast (like once the paper gets wet, it's a waste and you need another one) thus the need for more trees is too fast too. But trees don't grow mature every day. It takes years!
Unfortunately we live in a world that not a lot of thought goes into taking care of our planet ...greed kicks in before care 😒
Another good review!

Haha! howdy macoolette! I love the name of that restaurant! That's so cool. I'm glad it was good and if you can't finish it you can just take it with you, pretty convenient!
