Binalot bistek

I used to work at RCBC Tower years ago when I was with HP and we were supporting Shell account. It was what, about nine years ago. We used to either go to the second floor food court or go out to the jolly jeeps nearby. After all those years, I got the chance to drop by few weeks ago and had my late lunch with Filipino style beef steak - the bistek walastik.

The entrance is flanked with tables and chairs so diners can choose to stay outside.

The crew were in a table at the back of the restaurant when I got inside. The cashier stood and went to the counter to cater to me. I ordered for the bistek walastik.

Bistek is basically a locally contracted beef steak and walastik is a local expression for fantastic.

Binalot means wrapped and that is how they serve their foods. All are wrapped in banana leaf and doubled with paper. Just like what I shared before about my thoughts on this, I am not fully in favor of what they claim as their environmental-friendly packaging. Why? With the many branches of the restaurant across the country, I can not imagine how many babana plants will be destroyed to get their leaves even when not fully grown. I also feel that the paper wrappers are just wastes of so many trees which could save our environnent way better if we keep them as trees.

It was pass three o'clock in the afternoon so the restaurant was empty. This is the time when I enjoy being in a restaurant, when I don't have to rush my food so I can vacate my table for others.

When my order was served, I was surprised to see an extra but small banana leaf package. I asked the crew what it is and she said it is rice. I said I did not order for a extra rice and she said it is free. Really? That's cool!

I opened the main package and smiled to myself. The rice volume is smaller than usual so that is where the extra rice comes in. They are clever enough to make it look like they give freebies when it is only just for the original set. Now, I got another marketing idea!

The beef was tender and that is the most important to me with beef and pork. That is because I have tried these meat with what seemed to be like bubble gums.

The dish was cooked Filipino style wherein our beef steak is like adobo where you can taste the soy sauce but with more onions and no vinegar.

While I was enjoying my food and my time that I have the whole restaurant to myself, I was looking around for something to catch. I noted this posted on the glass wall to my left right above my head.

They have sizzlers! That will be something worth tryingnext time.

There were two diners who came and eat in. They came after me and gone before me. That was because, again, I was enjoying the serenity of the place. So when you want a restaurant to be all by yourself, visit during mid-morning or mid-afternoon. But don't ruin your meal schedule. 😊
