Steve stopped writing. He glanced his laptop notification on a new installed updates. He hated himself for not being able to purchase a decent gadget. His laptop was archaic and definitely needed replacement. It was so often he spilled some triumph espresso on the keyboard surface.Some of them weren't even properly working.

His archaic laptop was also installed with a webcam which he plastered with bandage.Everyone surrounded him wondered as to why he did that. Self-Images were proof of one's existence among robots who tried to live harmoniously with la la land citizen.Robots helped human to do mundane tasks but overtime, it made human even lazier.Everything was just one swipe away including mating.

Steve stepped out of his flat when the voice from telescreen continued raspingly

Newsflash, I am authored to say that General Macaron had spent 26,000 beans on a personal make up which was really compulsory during meetings with other states leaders. Therefore, all citizen must increase their bean donation. Effective now

Bad news coming. He didn't even pay his monthly electricity bill and now he had to increase his donation for general Macaron. Steve was really annoyed. He wondered why people voted for general Macaron.

" Was it because he was dashing and charming?"

He exactly knew there were two other candidates with more aggressive approach in ruling la la land. But he thought,both of them were still far more better, at least they won't really raise the bean donation.

Steve was going to meet his comrades who sent him a picture of newly book he had just purchased.

Book was something rare to find. It had to be read in a private space. Reading a book was discouraged. Schools were using e-book and internet as materials. It was all provided from minitrue.

It appealed him that finally his comrade following his path.He loved to read ancient gods and goddess but was always skeptical whether the current religion was only a way to control masses.

He recited a famous line from karl max inside his head

Religion is the opiate of the masses

It was more complex than that, but he didn't want to think further as he ran out of time to meet his comrades. The new party slogans were tapped in everywalls in the neighborhood

" It's all good folks"

A really powerful slogan to reassure everyone that there won't be any bean scarcity and that la la land won't be invaded by martians.

Lately, Minitrue had been playing a video about possible martian invading la la land within the next 30 years.They were pictured as odd creatures with big oval eyes and round head. Nobody was really sure, if any of la la land, ever really saw a martian.

Steve thought it was only an artwork from a talented Minitrue staff who then published and named is as " Martians".

The scientist didn't even approve their existence just yet. Instead, from his daily digest, he read la la land government would fly a spaceship to invade mars in search for a better soil.It was rumored and even made into a movie that a commoner would never be able to fly themselves into the promised land.They all would stuck in earth along with tons of rubbish and natural disaster which happened frequently in the past 5 years.

The future was in the hand of progressive people who were going against the government to create more harmonious environment. Several underground movements were started but people couldn't seem to leave their comfort and easy life being helped by robots who worked tirelessly.

Steve turned the door knob of his comrade's flat, Danko.
