This is a song about Rosa Louise McCauley Parks (February 4, 1913 – October 24, 2005) who was an activist in the civil rights movement best known for her pivotal role in the Montgomery Bus Boycott. The United States Congress has called her "the first lady of civil rights" and "the mother of the freedom movement" Wikipedia

The song topped the US Billboard Hot 100 chart for one week in May 1973 and sold over one million copies. It's one of the first songs I can remember that featured a new thing at the time called a synthesizer.
The song was originally much longer and the band chopped it into pieces as they combined it into this final composition, hence, how it got its name, Frankenstein.
When this came out it was really something completely new, some would say it was ahead of its time.
