How to be a millionaire. Do you want to be a millionaire?

in #million6 years ago

The question is who wants to be a millionaire?

Just imagine, those stacks of Cash 🙆🏼

The Million Dollar dream is simple irresistible. I still remember the younger me, I dreamed of driving a very expensive car. I dream of driving a car that was worth hundreds of thousands. Well, it never happened. I am driving a decent car but not one that cost hundreds of thousands. I used to think that wealth was the ability to buy a big house, an expensive car and have the latest gadgets. My view has changed. I am not sure if I might be a millionaire some day. If by the time, I reach 60, my bank account would have a surplus of 500 K and I won't have any debt, that would be something I'd be joyful of.

I was watching Triple Frontier.

Do check the wiki here

I do not want to post a lot of Spoilers here in case you have not watched it. Why does this movie relate to the millionaire dream? This movie is kind of sad in a way.

Synopsis
An informant by the name of Yovanna made a deal with Santiago "Pope" Garcia, a Private Military contractor to smuggle her and her brother out of the Columbia. In exchange for this, she would give him information on the whereabouts of this drug lord who hid cash in his house. The safe house had more than 250 million USD worth of cash hidden. Pope flies back to the states and meet up with his old ex special forces friends. Their job was to assist him in looting this safe house. If it was successful, all of them would retire with millions.

This all goes to plan. They loot the safehouse. (Details won't be disclosed for not spoiling this movie) The load up all those cash into their truck. On their flight out, the helicopter crashes due to overloading of cash. They had to survive through the jungle and finally through the bitter mountain ridges losing some of the cash on their way. In the end, all of them had lost a huge portion of their spoils. In the end, they ended up with nothing.

It's worth a watch.

My own opinion

Sometimes in life, we encounter something like this. It seems all too good to be true. We work hard at it and never take a moment to think if whether it's worth our input and end up with something less.

One thing I am sure is that, the world total GDP has overall increased. There are more millionaires than ever. The number of hours that we would need to work in order to sustain our monthly expenses would gradually decrease as the technology advances around us.

You need to save around 10 K a year for the next 35 years to have a million bucks at the end of it. That 10 K has to be worth the same 10 K today as inflation eats up our contributions per year. Are you willing to sacrifices instance gratification for the million at the other end of the tunnel?

This is just an abstract of what I have in mind. Maybe there would be many Steemians who would be millionaires in the future. One of the theory that I can hypothesize is that, If a user has been working hard in the Steemverse and if Steemit grows and sustains well into the next decade, our hard work from the future past, is going to contribute to our total Net Worth and the best thing is that no one who knows us would really know.

Hahaha... Yea. How great it would be isn't it if we could actually drive and own a lambo in our life. I don't think I would be able to drive one. Do u wash it by urself?

No Riley help at little!

Hi hi Patrick... Hahha that's good to have Riley help out. What other things does she help out?

Posted using Partiko Android

Helped at a little! I meant to say helped out a little! Speak English much!? Speaking of speaking English, your English is really good. When did you learn? Do a lot of people speak English in Malaysia?

Anyways she does a lot to help around the house. She can look after her sister, if I have important things to attend to. I never leave them alone, but still it’s nice for her to take her sisters attention if I’m making dinner or something. She helps clean as well, but over all her chores are pretty minimal. As long as she keeps up with school work and takes time to be creative. I’m ok with that.

Hi hi.. Hahaha.. Patrick. I studied in Brunei and took the Cambridge examinations and my Teacher was from the United Kingdom. I still have loads to learn from you. I need to still up the ante in my vocabulary. A lot of people speak English here but a lot too have problems with the language. In Brunei, the majority of the population speaks in English. I watch American shows all the time. My brain uses English in the conversations even in my head. Write the English way and listen and think the American way. Almost all the channels here are American.

It's great to have a little helpful one to assist with all the things around the house. I bet your daughter's are quite self discipline with almost no complains doing chores and studies. Wow, you can cook? That's something amazing.

That’s amazing! From how much we talked I’m impressed! What would be the “native/normal” langue there? I don’t know a second langue, only a few phrases in Spanish. Anything I could do to help, I’d love too!

I love to cook! 🤔Well actually I love to eat!! 😂😂9/10 the best meal is self prepared. I plan on putting my favorite recipes on steemit! I’ve cooked or worked in food service most of my life. I’ve cooked, been a waiter, bartender, and then managed. Didn’t really like serving others all that much, although it had it moments. Love serving my girls! Speaking of they give me a hard time, sometimes about chores, but that’s kids. We were watching “tales by light” a documentary about poor children in India, who have to collect recyclables from the trash dump so their families can eat. I looked over at Riley and said you complained about putting the shoes away!! Always try to remind them how good we have it.

Hi hi Patrick, Really sorry for the late reply. Been really busy. I usually want to take some time to reply you as you write good comments so I think I ought to write in an appropriate manner. Here, in Malaysia, most of us speak need to learn three languages, which is English, Malay and Chinese. The Malay languages uses English characters. For example, eat = Makan in Malay. Same characters.

Ooo.. Tales by light. I will take note and watch it if I have a chance. Seems interesting. Yea, food waste is also a big issue in Malaysia too. To think that in poorer countries, those children suffer.

Which was the best job? For me, the first job I got was to be a lecturer, then I was a teacher for five years, purchaser in an offshore company then now teaching again. I did drive for Uber for a while. 😊😊😊

A million is not as much like you may think because it's just locked up in assets.

If you have a business that's worth more than 1M than you're a millionaire but it's not that you could spend that money on whatever you want.

My father is worth a few million euro's but i never thought he was rich, it's just a pretty normal guy. Because most millionaires don't have that much money on their bank accounts, the money is invested. If you can spend 1M on stupid things then you're worth at least 20 times as much.

Hi hi Niel.. What you said is real. I read your family business story that you wrote a few days back. If those who spend too much even if they have loads will end up with nothing. So did it make it easier for your to have a headstart in what you do now because your dad?

Not really because right now i'm just trading the markets. But i'm not really doing anything related to http://www.construma.be Those 2 things not really have something in common.

But i did have an easier headstart than let's say my friends because i got access to capital. Relative speaking i'm pretty wealthy just because i'm born that way. It's just that i'm trying to find meaning/something i enjoy. I don't think engineering is that fun. I'm trying to "outsmart" the stock market/cryptocurrency market. Because i feel that's my purpose in life. I have always tried to work a way around things. I love life hacking.

Nice to know u Niel. Got a lot to learn from u. Good that your finding meaning in this rather than spending the cash on unwanted stuff. I think in some ways having wealth enables us to find new meaning and achieve greater goals that aren't monetary. While those who are struggling can't have this mindset because they are trying to still achieve their physiological needs.

So great your a instructor/teacher! Shows your intelligence! My supports me 💯 %!! Sometimes she can’t see the overall vision, but I just have to remind her. Kinda like the house, we refinanced a few years back and we switched from a 30 year to a 15. I was like this will allow us to buy the house of our dreams!! Sometimes she couldn’t see it, now as we sit here in our dream home. I remind her how right I was! 😉😂😂

She’s also loves I’m home with the girls. So even if I don’t become a rich bitcoin trader. She’s still happy her girls are loved and home schooled.

Gosh I imagining that office! Sounds dreadful! And the only thing you can work toward is being on of those guys who watches over everyone!

I don’t remember to many recipes. Thing most useful thing I learned was the gift of gab!! 😂😂
