Luke tells Carlos what everyone else is thinking and Carlos doesn't like it!

It's interesting that YouTube doesn't care about it's own reputation. It pretends videos are being demonetized because of hate speech, racism or conspiracy theories when a lot of the videos do not contain any of this 'harmful' content.

These recent events are reminiscent of 2018 when gaming vlogger PewDiePie, a.k.a. Felix Kjellberg, was accused of promoting anti-Semitism. The young people of today do not care about authoritative sources or official opinions. They like what they like and frankly they couldn't give two donuts about what an outsider thinks. PewDiePie's fans continued to support him and they learnt an important lesson; the news is fake and legacy media can't be trusted.

The young people growing up today are seeing what is happening and they will have no desire to trust YouTube as a brand in the same way people have no desire to watch their televisions and think the news presented isn't fake.

You really have to wonder what is YouTube's long term strategy with this in terms of brand development? Developing a good relationship with the target market is essential for brand management. YouTube seems to have the attitude that its platform is 'too big to fail'. This is not a good long term strategy. A viable alternative is vital at this point. When the market finds one there will be no reason to stay with YouTube.
