Baked Challah French Toast with Blueberries - Photo Recipe
Blueberries are in season - YUM!
Love this butter!
Use a fork or a whisk to beat the eggs with vanilla, cinnamon, and milk. If you like, you can add a bit of maple syrup to the egg mixture as well.
Ingredients
- loaf of challah or french bread
For large bread use the higher amount of fruit and eggs. - 1-2 cups of fresh fruit (peaches, berries, apples - whatever is in season)
- 4-6 eggs
- 1/8 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp butter
- maple syrup
Directions
- Preheat Oven to 350º F
- Butter the bottom and sides of your baking dish
- Rip the bread into chunks
- Add the fruit and mix it up
- Beat the eggs with the milk, vanilla and cinnamon (orange zest would be nice too)
- Pour the beaten egg mixture over the bread and fruit
- Sprinkle the top with some more cinnamon
- Bake for 30-45 minutes
After it comes out of the oven
Serve with warm maple syrup, butter, and a side of sliced peaches. Enjoy!

Wow, that looks really tasty @lrich, all it needs is a nice topping like a scoop of ice cream or a criss-cross of bacon!!! Re-steemed.
Either of those would be amazing! I'll consider it next time!
Great for a weekend morning @lrich! I wonder if you could set it up overnight and bake in the morning?
@jaymorebeet - i bet you could set it all up the night before. Might just need to cook it a bit longer.
Delicious. I am hungry now. :(
