Eltz Castle Main Entryway.

in #castle6 years ago (edited)

This was the entrance that you first see when stepping foot inside the Eltz Castle.

It’s a cobblestone road that flows underneath the arch and welcomes you into the courtyard of the castle. There are many visitors here so if you’d ever want to visit I highly recommend going on a weekday rather than the weekend like I did.

On the left side is a wonderful view of the valley below, which is surrounded by a lush green forest and a river surrounding the castle. Following the path and heading downstairs, there’s a modern restaurant where you can enjoy great food while being surrounded by a beautiful atmosphere.

Opposite that is a gift shop which includes a €2000 set of knight armor! Here it is in all its splendid glory. I ended up buying a small knight from here as I couldn’t pass up the opportunity.

Pretty cool right? I’ll follow up with some interior courtyard shots in the following posts. Hope you’re enjoying the castle with me!

wow the Castle looks unreal like from some fairy tale

It truly does take your breath away :) thank you for stopping by and for your wonderful comment.

Here i'd like to share some more info "This castle still owned by a branch of the same family (the Eltz family) that lived there in the 12th century, 33 generations ago. Bürresheim Castle (Schloss Bürresheim), Eltz Castle and Lissingen Castle are the only castles on the left bank of the Rhine in Rhineland-Palatinatewhich have never been destroyed.
Thanks for the unique article mate :) @lpreap

Thank you for giving readers even more information about the castle, I appreciate it. I didn’t know that they were the only castles on the left bank of the Rhine that have never been destroyed. I’m quite glad they haven’t been as it would have been a shame to destroy something so beautiful after standing for centuries.

>--------- **AMAZING POST WITH FULL OF INFORMATIONS !!!** ---------

As far as I know, the castle is known for the fact that, unlike many other similar aristocratic fortresses, it was never destroyed and was able to survive during all wars. Of course, many generations of owners often rebuilt it, but the more interesting its appearance and interior. Although the castle is privately owned, it is a Museum. Very beautiful place.

I liked this post very much because this post seems to me the best that your photography has become so beautiful that these places of photography are very useful for very nice travelling, to see these places very beautiful, thanks for taking photographs.

Nice pictures. Sounds like you enjoyed the visit there. Do you have more pictures there? I’d like to have seen a picture of the small knight you purchased.
