My First Night Club Experience

On my eighteen birthday , I was home all day due to lack of money and plans on how to go celebrate my special day.
Mike, my best friend came around by 6 pm and asked us to just sit out. We got to a sit out which was familiar to both of us but it was sort of strange as people were very few there. I went into the hall and was no light and so could not see anything. Mike called out from outside that i should put on the light. I reached out for the switch and as i turned it on i heard people singing a happy birthday song . Mike had organised a surprised party and said we still had another "waka " after it. I was excited to find out what it was and so by 10 pm i reminded him "it's still early " He said. Few minutes to mid-night, mike and few other guys came to meet me and we headed to the surprised destination. It was not until i got there that i realised it was a club. I was reluctant to enter but Mike kept saying i was an adult now.

Mike ordered for drinks and some minutes later went off to dance. I sat there watching, I wasn't comfortable, music too loud, the lights were dim so i could barely recognise someone few inches from me so i began playing games to keep me busy while waiting for them to finish. A song that i liked came on and just as was about moving to it , i felt the need to use the rest room.
The sound of the music was much lesser and so it was possible to hear what was going on outside, I heard noise outside and as i peeped through the window to check what was happening i saw some men in police uniforms talking to the bouncers at the door. Their van had some people in cuffs. My heart started beating faster than usual, i have read about the police raiding some night club and i was about to witness one first hand. The music suddenly went off and i could hear people murmuring and someone would obviously be one of the uniform men asking everyone to sit. The bright light had been turned on. I left the restroom and took a seat in the brightest part of the hall, after checking for a while they saw the person they where after and took him out of the hall. The music came back on and the bright were turned off but i was longer interested, not just me many others too. Mike and i made our way to the door as i walked out of the door i promised myself never to visit a club again but i knew deep down that i wont keep this promise for long
