Spicy or not?
A lot of people enjoyed that lip burning sensation that comes from eating spicy foods. Although some people like me prefer a milder heat but many people really want it super spicy.
Just recently I noticed that my eldest daughter love hot sauce so much such that she always asks for it wherever we are. Like for example when we eat at Jollibee she always orders spicy chicken and on top of that, she still request for extra hot powder, I don’t remember the exact term she used, but when her chicken was delivered it really looks like super-duper hot.
Well, I do like spicy chicken but never knew we can actually request to make the chicken extra spicy. Something new that I learned from my daughter.
Now this made me wonder if how it could affect our health, I mean I had this contention in mind if whether or not taking too much spicy could really affect our health.
So here’s what I discovered:
- Hot sauce is rich with Vitamin C since hot sauce are primarily made from chile peppers which contain high level of vitamin c.
- Hot sauce with its vitamin c content is good for your teeth and bones and plays vital role in our body’s metabolism.
- Hot sauce is important to heal wounds fast.
- Hot sauce acts as anti-oxidant. This is one great role of Vitamin c in our body. It helps fight free radicals. We all know that free radicals can damage our cells.
- Hot sauce burn calories. I think this is one of the reasons why my daughter really like to eat spicy food. She’s a pharmacist and very particular with her calorie consumption.
- Clear sinuses. This one I really need to take into consideration. I’ve been suffering with nasal discomfort due to allergies so I might as well eat spicy foods to obtain temporary relief.

You can make chili as your vitamins. My lolo eats 3 chili every other day. I also learned from one of the Datu here in Lanao that Chili is one of the best vitamins you can take!
