Learning Blender - Log 08 - Lighting

in #modeling5 years ago

Intro

Today, I have focused all my learning efforts on learning lighting. I had a lot of studying to do this weekend and I will probably have more the following two weeks since we are currently at 3/4 of the school year and teachers just love to put all our responsibilities on a 2-week time frame.

Log

I have fumbled around with lighting a lot in the past few scenes, despite me not mentioning it. In my previous log (Log 07) I made drastic changes to my lighting setup, which made a visible improvement in how things looked. The setup I came up with on my own had multiple light sources and looked quite distracting if you focused too much on the shadows coming off on the table.

For today's update, I scrapped all of the different light sources and made the only light source in the world a "Sun" light source.

I played around with all the angles a lot and came up with something that brings out the modeling in the best way, while disguising the imperfections in my sloppy beginner models.

Here is a picture of the newly lit scene

I hear you, I never used blender before, I use a program called poser 11, and good lighting is always an issue for me. By the way, I think you got it, that render looks incredibly life like!

Cool :) with hindsight I think the light is a bit too intense.

Thanks :)
