Witchcraft for Beginners

in #life6 years ago

I'd first like to say that I am ecstatic that you chose to read my article. This is your first step in the path of Witchcraft, for those who intend to pursue the Craft. These aren't concrete ways to pursue your Craft, just my personal experience with beginning to practice.

1.) Buy a journal to record what you learn.
This part was very essential to me because it, in a way, tracked my progress. Your Book of Shadows or Book of Illumination doesn't have to be a gorgeous piece of art in a beautiful journal. It can be a composition notebook with scribbles. What's important is the content and it's functionality for later practices.

2.) Research the religions of the world and your area.
Learn about everything where you live. Take sudden interest in local history and on the way, learn about different religions and how they have practiced their magick along through the years. Learn about Wicca, Asatru, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, Shintoism, and every other interesting religions that the world's many cultures offer.

3.) Designate a spot to cast your spells.
You can cast spells anywhere. The key to spells are relaxation, visualization/concentration, and projection. So essentially, you could do your spells anywhere. I however, designated a space that I could call forth a circle at any time, to cast spells. Make sure this is a safe place for your magick. Most people consider their altars their place of magick.

4.) Research different magickal practices.
A good place to start, would be to research tarot cards, pendulums, and spells. You could also look into the studies of herbs and their properties. A staple of a Witch's library is a Farmer's Almanac. Or, if you are fancier, a Llewyan's Witch Almanac.

5.) YOUR CRAFT IS YOUR OWN. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO COPY SOMEONE ELSES TO FEEL MAGICK.
Your magick is within you. Your path is entirely dependent of how you want it to be. There are no rules to magick because it is your own, to shape and mold as you see fit. 20180201_002556.jpg

This photo is of my magickal spot, featuring my Book of Shadows. (( Sorry its not terribly clean. Incense ashes tend to fall where they want. ))

My favorite books for solitary practice:
A Witch Alone by Marian Green
Encyclopedia of 5,000 Spells by Judika Illes

Great! Bur what are those things I could cast spells on. And, as a beginner, can my spell work on anything?

You can do spells for essentially anything. Anything you really wish to happen. However, that said, it is best to begin with very small spells. Like, for example, good luck spells to enhance your day or week. Eventually after large amounts of meditation and preparation, you could move onto bigger spells that have more effect. I've found that if you over exert your spiritual energy (which could be very little if you're a beginner), it could lead to consequences, such as, getting ill.

Hmm, interesting but difficult

I don't think it's terribly difficult, just a lot of mental prep. If you have any questions, you could ask me! I'm not an authority by any means on the matter, but I've been doing it for years. :)

Ok, but I'd prefer it private. How can i reach you so we can talk?

Which way would you prefer?

My Kik is cornfedcommunism, if you'd like to discuss this further.

Sorry i couldn't reach you this while. I have a problem with my system. Do you have a whatsapp account? So we could discuss it.

Yeah, I have WhatsApp. I have no idea how to use it though. 😂😂

Thank you so much!! 😁
