Time to take off the mask (dream)

I was working in an office building that was being refurbished. My psychotherapist from thirty years ago had arrived for a session and we had to walk round the floor several times to find a space that we could use. We ended up in reception. "You could use the boardroom", they said. But the boardroom was being used. We had to sit in reception, but everytime I tried to talk about what was going on, somebody would come in and be talking loudly. It didn't feel safe to say the things I wanted to say in front of all these people.

So we decided to try one last door and it turned out it was my spare bedroom at home now. Except it was much more cluttered and there were lots of table lamps none of which worked properly, they'd come on for a few seconds and then start flickering.

I turned them all on nonetheless. But then just as I was about to open my heart to the therapist, my ex-wife came in the door with a bundle of my shirts. An ex-girlfriend of mine was helping her, she stood behind with an even bigger pile of laundry. They started hanging everything up. So I said "No, this isn't going to work, it's not convenient, I need to have my session". And she said "But, it's all got to be done! They've got to be hung up some time".

I looked at the therapist and she said "Perhaps it's time to take off the mask." To which I replied, "No I think it's time to put another one on."
