The Herbs!

Against the south-facing wall there's a rag-tag collection of greenery. The fennel is the biggest and most obvious. It stands a little bit taller than me (5'11'') and although they're not pictured here, it's currently in flower with crazy yellow bunches, growing in the same shape as elderflower. It will soon go to seed, I'm looking forward to collecting some for curries.

At the base of that there's a load of rosemary. Most often used round here as an accompaniment to roast lamb but it has lots of other medicinal uses too.

There's mint at the back. I'm just enjoying a cup of fresh mint tea as I write this, it's delicious, refreshing and reminds me of childhood making mint sauce (again for lamb!)

There's another one that I think might be peppermint - you can just see the flowers on the left hand side of this photo. I need to investigate more. And then there's the Lemon Verbena that I wrote about the other day.

There are also some chives I think, but again they need a bit of investigation.

And the whole thing has strawberries all around it. No berries or flowers to be seen but the distinctive leaves are there.
