Lucky In Love
There's a hotspot of innovation going on in the TRON blockchain, specifically around gambling sites. This deserves a longer article, but for now, these are the points I think are interesting:
What do people who enjoy the thrill of crypto investing do in a year-long bear market? They move to gambling sites, where you use tokens to play and hopefully amass even more for when the market picks up.
TRON seems to have stolen ETH's thunder by creating a blockchain that is programmatically compatible, but has much lower transaction costs. This means some people developing Ethereum DApps have been able to port to the new kid on the block much more easily and run them more cost-effectively.
Games and gambling are ways that we can understand decentralised applications much more easily than the more complex stuff. We're on an evolutionary curve with decentralisation and frictionless decentralised gambling is easier on the brain than other smart contracts, like say, Augur's prediction market.
People like to gamble. Some people don't like other people gambling, but there are a bunch of people who really like it, especially people who live ooh, how can we say it? In timezones about 7-8 hours ahead of UTC.
What makes these sites different from your everyday internet gambling site that most people won't go near is the decentralisation. This is gambling along the lines of: you walk into the casino with a bucket of quarters, you put a quarter in the slot and for some games you can get a 95% chance of winning a very small amount down to a 1% chance of winning nearly $25. If you win you also get your quarter back. But no matter whether you win or lose, you also get the equivalent of a tiny share certificate in the casino's winnings for the day - they take a small overhead, but the bulk goes into a dividend pool shared among the token holders. Tronbet regularly shares out more than 10 million TRX a day (1TRX roughly equals a penny)
All the main ones are copying each other and vying for space. Who knows what the market will look like in 6 months? But this is really just the beginning.
Don't go and play these games with money you can't afford to lose, especially this time of year. Stay safe folks!
