I explored a little further today

in #vlog7 years ago

I turned right instead of left and walked further south along the canal today. I "found" a WWII pill box just next to where the railway line crosses over the Wey navigation. These concrete boxes can still be found all along the South of England, from Bristol to Kent - they were the last line of real defence against a possible invading army arriving on the South Coast, though standing here it's really really hard to imagine German tanks rolling over the fields here on their way to London. Most of the websites that tell you about them are in need of a bit of a mapping upgrade, but this one seems to be from the County Council and you can see the line of them on the map.

And behind the box (I didn't try to get in...) there's a lovely footpath through the woods that eventually meets up again with the main road (although there are some tight bends on the road with no footpaths so a bit dodgy).

Also YouTube has managed to make a thumbnail with my over the top cheesy excited grin :)

I enjoy history thanks for the video
I have you on my steemvoter list
I needed some help
I see in you last few post you have the same curators upvoting your posts
Please can you tell me how you have achieved to do this
I will be very thankful if you could share this with be

Thanks, I'm aware that I'm on a few people's lists, it's very nice and it keeps the steem dollars flowing in, but I don't have any other information about why they upvote me than that I hope it's because I make consistently good content and I'm fairly friendly to others.

I also see other people making consistently good content and being friendly and not getting voted so really I don't know what it is.

Your username says it all :) write more, write well, be good to people on the way up and keep asking questions, even if there aren't any easy answers. Good luck!

An impressive find.
The only thing I seem to find on my walks are puddles of mud.......or swarms of knats.
A concise and cool video.
