Living at 6,000ft elevation has its advantages, but it also means spring weather comes in waves; one day it will be a beautiful 50 degrees and the next we will have a fresh foot of snow on the ground. While some homesteaders are starting their seedlings, we are still shoveling snow and patiently awaiting the arrival of warm weather. I’m not going to lie, I do long for spring, but I also try to see the beauty in these winter months.
The snow covered wilderness has a fresh feeling to it, a blank slate one could say, that is easy to ignore … but if you look closely, it’s quite magical.
The cold weather also brings many majestic creatures to our homestead that would normally be hidden in the warmer months.
The details that sometimes go unnoticed - due the abundance of color and beauty during the spring time, are more vivid and clear in the colder months.
Things may be quiet here, but they are still beautiful… it’s a time to rest and enjoy the silence and peaceful surroundings of the season.
So...until spring arrives, we shall stay warm and cozy by the fire…
…and wait for the sun to set on this winter wonderland.

So beautiful. You are a badass photographer @llfarms. Just looking at these photos makes me want a blanket, but wow. What kind of camera do you use for these?
Wow! Thank you! You are much too kind. I actually use an old nikon coolpix 😬. I know nothing about photography, but enjoy it and want to learn more. I've been researching DSLR's and want to upgrade soon and maybe do some online studies. Thank you so much!
You said that you have a Nikon Coolpix? I use a Nikon Coolpix L19 for my pictures. I've had it for quite a while. :-)
You do good work with that camera.
Our elevation is about 1/2 of yours but our weather is the same. Your pictures are amazing!!!! I believe we will get another big snow before we break for true Spring. We can't plant outdoors until end of May so we have time :)
Thank you so much! Yes, we are being hit with another round right now. Here we have the occasional July freeze, so we are making plans for some easy tunnels to cover the plants quickly. Luckily the sun is intense this high, so we have that in our favor. I'm just getting a little spring fever I think hahaha
All of those shots are gorgeous, but the second one and last one - WOW! While I'm SO tired of seeing snow on the ground around here, those two captures made me appreciate the beauty of it (although I might appreciate it more in July...LOL!). And double WOW for that buck - so frellin' majestic.
And honestly, I was so distracted by the eye candy, I barely registered what you wrote at first. However, I went back and reread and I love the lyrical way you describe it all. Beautifully done, @llfarms!
You got an eye for photography, all the eyes actually.
Thanks Sound 😂
😅
You're funny Daniel!
I don't know where you find these crazy GIFs, but this one is a dandy! LOL
Ohh you never mentioned that you are living in paradise :lovewaves: :lovewaves:, amazing pictures.
Thank you Tanish ❤

Lovely indeed, pretty cold snowwww. Good for you for appreciating the beauty of it ♡
Thank you! It's hard sometimes 😭 hahaha. I know you can relate, I'm ready to start planting!
Beautiful photos! I loved looking through them.
Thank you!
