Mum leaves, the elves stay...

This comment was met with a revolt, hence, the title.

The general sentiment is that I will be given the boot if I continue talking badly of the elves. Apparently, they are good elves, the ‘red ones’ that is. But that if they hear me saying unkind things, they will misbehave...

I think there might be some bad green ones. I’m so confused, I’m not really sure. Jade keeps insisting “there are pink and purple ones that are graceful”. She says this with absolute certainty, because she heard this from the other kids. I checked the online catalogues, there were no pink and purple elves on the market. According to Jade, those ones fly to your house....🙄

Anyway, the girls were thrilled to find the elves hanging on the light fittings. It took them a while to find them though. 😂 Then it got serious. Violet became concerned the grown ups will accidentally bump her elf who was hanging upside down from the light, thereby causing her elf to lose her magic. She went on guard duty; she didn’t trust Mum. She really thinks I have it in for them....🤣. I let her call her dad who was coming home late from a work function. He laughed but said he will be careful too.

I completely forgot about the elves yesterday evening. It was a long day at work and I was exhausted. I wasn’t awake when my husband came home later that evening. So I woke up this morning, freaked out and thought:

Oh shit, the elves!! 😱

As is typical, my husband had gone out for his early morning Ingress run. He tries to get his fitness done before his family of bossy females wake up, demanding him to be a servant.

I looked anxiously at the time and listened to hear if the girls were up. I raced into the hall and was relieved to find the light fitting was absent on elves.

When my husband returned, I told him that I was glad the elves had moved, that I was too exhausted last night to care what they might have gotten up to. He grinned and said:

“With all the antics they got up to yesterday, they probably decided they needed a rest.”

Their house is a huge and unsightly cardboard box in our living room. I’m not happy about that either. So the above image is them in their hobo house resting after their day climbing our hall light.

My husband also reported this morning that he saw a note Violet had stuck to the Window for him yesterday. I didn’t know she had actually written an additional reminder for him on top of the phone call. Here it is:
