The slow slow net speed and me

By the time I'm writing this, I'm still waiting for that thing to download...it's almost one huge GB and I'm downloading it with a mere speed of 60Kb/s, with frequent slowdowns thanks to YouTube users around the house, family members downloading games and app updates from App Store and Google Play, also some are scrolling Facebook, I should be grateful that no one is visiting pixiv downloading HQ wallpapers or scrolling Tumblr, viewing cat GIFs or memes.

It's actually interesting to say that it's year 2018 and I'm still using this slow speed while sharing it with all devices that can connect to Wi-Fi in the house (maybe 6 to 7?). My house had been using this internet package since I was a child (say, 13 years back, or more?), and we stuck to it till now. To be honest, it was sufficiently fast back in those days - no stupid video ads on the net, no HD vids, games were small, pages were simple and loaded quickly, no GIF spam everywhere, no video autoplay, everything was so nice.

Time flies and technology gets improved, devices getting better and better, getting more and more features, and to support these new features better operating systems were developed, to develop better operating systems you need more code, more code contributes to larger size; to harness the power of new technology new stuff that are more complex were developed, and to create more complex stuff, you need more stuff that compiles to larger size; to get these larger stuff to load quickly you need faster net speed, and hence more and more people get faster net speed, then content creators and services assume that people has faster net speed, and made their size larger and larger...it's like a snowball that can go on forever. While for people that cannot get faster internet speed, RIP.

Well, it's not that we cannot get a faster speed, better packages are always offered, but it just feels expensive while we are waiting for a better package for for cost-value ratio as high speed fiber internet gets more widespread in our country. It just takes time, and all city areas must get it first, then slowly to the not-so-city areas like my home. Perhaps after 10 years, maybe =w=

I believe that net speed is still an issue in developing countries, especially developing countries. Generic third world issues...? Idk, but it's something that we can always strive to improve.

Welp, 3 more hours before it is done, the wait continues...

P/s: You don't ask how I play games like these, to be honest, they work perfectly when no one is using the internet connection. Otherwise, I'll just use my mobile data. It is 4 times faster than my Wi-Fi connection lol, and I can always upgrade to a 4G connection, gotta do it when I have time =w=
