My Actifit Report Card: December 12 2019

It was raining lightly this morning but reasonably warm for the season so I headed out and played some disc golf with some friends. Four of us were playing today on the new eighteen basket course. We played two rounds with two person teams. The conditions were nice on the first round with only minimal rain and wind.

I like playing doubles, it gives you a lot of opportunity to make the throws and it is fun to be on a team. On both rounds I was on the winning team but the scores were close.

On the second round the wind was picking up a bit and towards the end it started gently raining. I didn't get very wet until I rode my e-bike home. That's a nice thing about the gentle rain around here.

I have been having trouble on the basket that you have a long downhill approach to. It is partly blocked by a tree limb so you either need to throw high and over towards the river or try to get it under the branch. I was first on the tee and my friends encouraged me to, "Don't fear the river!" :D

The wind was really blowing then and kind of swirling around. As usual I was overly cautious and my disc landed short and to the right - playable but not a good spot. Both of the other team members had difficulties with the wind - nearly having one throw head into the river and one ending up to the right sort of like where my throw went.

My teammate's throw went very short and to the left by the river. He wanted to throw a mulligan and try for a better position. I was a bit hesitant after watching the throws and the wind, figuring we might make par from my lie.

He went ahead and threw it figuring anything would be better than the two places where the discs were. We watched as the wind flipped it up and it turned and burned way out over towards the river never fading back. We looked for it for a bit but the river and bank are pretty steep here and it was nowhere to be found. I felt bad that he had lost the disc. My other friend had lost a disc on this same throw just recently too.

We had a, "If you throw a mulligan, you have to take it" rule. So we spotted the lie as best we could where the disc flew over the stream bank. We managed to get a bogie on the basket with the penalty stroke.

The four of us looked for it for some time. I had to go back to the tee and try to remember exactly where I threw it so I could find it beneath the leaves.
