My Actifit Report Card: May 30 2019
Another day of ebike riding and disc golfing. I parked next to the bike rack at the bathrooms near the electric outlet.
I've been disc golfing for almost a year now so I thought it might be appropriate to do a kind of "In the bag" article to show what a beginner likes to carry around in that bike bag on the back of the ebike:
The bag has nice spacious side pockets to keep my glasses, cellphone and jacket that I used to get down to the disc golf course. Sometimes I carry a water bottle but there is plenty of water here at the park.
There's a repair kit that came with the bike and a patch kit and pump that came in very handy recently as some of you may recall. I also have a handy strap so I can carry it all around with me on the disc golf course. There is a lightweight cable lock perfect for this park. (I also have a heavy duty cable that is has a half inch shank lock that should be better in high risk areas but I did not take that today.)
Oh, and that bike bag is a new purchase that I got when I bought the ebike but I don't recommend it highly. It is great design but unfortunately it falls short a bit on the implementation. (It is already ripping a bit and I haven't been abusing it that much, plus it looks like it is about to fall off the bike half the time.)
Being short on space and weight I have slimed down my collection of seventeen discs to the five discs for today:
Tobu Charge, Speed 9, Glide 4, Turn -1, Fade 2. This disc is critical for someone that doesn't always throw the disc into the fairway. It can be tracked with an application and turns on a beeper to show its location. It flies pretty stable for my arm strength with a predictable fade. A great control driver.
Innova GStar Tern, Speed 12, Glide 6, Turn -3, Fade 2. I found this disc on a course around here and it has turned into my favorite long distance driver. (I still like my "Pinky" disc for distance but it has gotten a bit too flippy from over use, or something and generally turns into a throwler (an unintender roller) if I'm not careful.) I especially like the designer dog bites on the Tern, however, I don't think this disc is tournament legal. This disc can hold some anhyzer and still fade predictably.
Innova Star Shryke, Speed 13, Glide 6, Turn -2, Fade 2. This one ended up in the bag today because it was a little windy. When throwing hard into a headwind and for distance I like this disc.
Innova Star LIte Valkyrie, Speed 9, Glide 4, Turn -2, Fade 2. Very similar to the Tobu Charge for what I use it for. This is the lightest disc at 148 grams from the group, while the others are all at close to max weight.
Gateway SSS Magic, Speed 2, Glide 3, Turn -1, Fade 0. This has turned into my favorite putter. I got it from a pro disc golfer along with a few other discs for finding and returning one of his discs. It has a real nice feel in cold weather and sticks to the ground where it lands.

Wow amazing bike and great photography.
Thank you, the bike has been pretty amazing.
Thanks for that very definitive look into what you need to have and what you need to know on the disc golf game. I already see that this game is way more sophiscated that I first realized. I admire you skill and the amount of knowlegde you have accumulated. Let me ask you, when you first starting learning this game, did you have experienced friends that you learned the game from?
My brother and son were into the disc golf before I was. I picked it up mostly from my son and watching stuff on Youtube. There is a lot of good information out there on it.
You got a lot of toys, LS. So good to have something one loves to do:)
It is nice to have something to keep you busy and having fun doing things.
Oh, I am busy. That is for sure:)
Excellent review @lightsplasher and today I learned a lot of details about your discs and more and more convinced that you are serious about playing golf!
It is a very fun game with a lot of things that you can learn about to improve your game.
Wow, it’s really cool to read about all the “tools of the trade,” as they say. It’s cool that you get to the course by bike, too, and you’re totally self-sufficient! I bet you get plenty of steps whenever you play.

Thanks! Yes, an eighteen basket course gives me close to 10K of steps especially if I ride down there and spend some time looking around for lost discs or something.
That must be really annoying (and expensive) to lose discs. Are you looking for yours or anyone’s? We have a course near us and I’ve always wanted to try it. I used to play Ultimate, so I think I could be decent at it. But I already have a few too many hobbies and habits!

I have not lost many discs since I invested in the Tobu disc with the tracker. Usually if it looks too difficult to throw on the fairway, I use that disc. I have found discs just sitting on the ground when not even looking for them. Sometimes they fall out of trees after a storm, months after being lost.

@lightsplasher, Good to know that you are doing Disc Golfing from one year and in my opinion if we love doing something then it's important that we are consistent in it.
And i want to say that you have some cool collections of Discs. It will inspire others who are enthusiastic towards the Disc Golfing.
Keep up and keep enjoying. Stay blessed.

Your ebike really looks tough and durable. Yes better have some cable lock so that your bike at least won't get stolen very easy @lightsplasher
The discs looks nice too, I guess it is really fun to play disc golf. :D
