Robot Rights?

in #science8 years ago (edited)

[Текст на српском] Long time ago, Roman law brought a notion of a “legal entity” or “juristic personality” (Latin: persona ficta), but we had to wait until developed capitalism to see the most twisted abuse of the concept…

Yes, law under hierarchical matrix, was never intended to find truth and justice. Both legal systems, Continental (Roman, European) and Precedent (Common Law, Anglo-Saxon), were clearly intended towards protection of the ruling class. Today we are witnessing the sickest abuse of the mentioned concept in diverting the criminal responsibility from the real human culprits to a “non-person” which can only pay a fine. And the fines against the criminal corporations are usually symbolic, because they are far lower than a criminally created profit. The peak of abuse was creation of the term: “Too Big to Fail”, which allowed harshest corporate crimes with impunity…

And now, after a number of cases that have made global headlines, there is a clear “public testing” for a new terrible twist — calling for the rights of robots! That prompted a group of over 150 experts in AI, robotics, commerce, law, and ethics from 14 countries, to write an open letter to the European Commission calling for robots never to be given legal status. Just imagine new generation of crimes without punishment if such nonsense enters the legal system. Has anyone ever read Isaac Asimov?

Wow, I don't even know how to respond to the thought that robots would have something close to rights. I have read a bit of Asimov.

Congratz, your post has been resteemed and, who knows, will maybe appear in the next edition of the #dailyspotlights (Click on my face if you want to know more about me...)
Check the rules of the Daily Spotlights if you want to nominate someone!

I strongly agree with you. Sometimes the law is unjust when judging critical issues. I don't knw if the system is just corrupt.

The system is made to be corrupt, hardaeborla.

It's going to be a really difficult one to curtail. We're talking about the rights of robots here.

They are talking now about rights in form of responsibilities "if they cause some damage"..So far that is the best that they can make up in order to justify this nonsense. It is so insulting for our intelligence to serve to people one story to create who knows what, but I can see the same pattern and I am sure in one thing, it wont serve us.

Spot on, @mandalaflower. They are trying to create “Terminator World”.
