Cool Zappa Covers

in #boombox8 years ago

Frank Zappa really was a prolific composer of the 20th century. He made amazing music and create interesting visuals. His music was not just technically intricate and pleasing instrumentally, but the vocals were meant to poke fun at the authoritarian consumerist bullshit typical of the era and with mass appeal.

This rock opera looks pretty cool would have loved to have seen it, with “Joes Garage” and “Catholic Girls” and I imagine many other hits.

Ohio University Marching Band put on quite a 3 ½ min performance of “Dancing Fool” that has some cool dancing and great tunes. I imagine this pumped up people at the game

I suspect as time goes on more and more people will dig this guy, and he will be looked back upon larger than he was in his day with his cult following. There are some interesting performances like this cover of Asphault Orchestra playing “Zombie Wolf”

My favorite cover is a navy band covering “Joe’s Garage” at an airport meeting the gang deplaneing. Frank ends up conducting them and you can tell how much it meant to Frank, would have been dope to be there. I imagine it made everyone’s day in that airport.

I found a Frank fan on Steemit! Discovered the Mother's in high school. During a casting for Joseph, I was involved with the art department making sets. That night back in 1985 changed me forever. Frank Zappa, very bold indeed. Really enjoyed the first video. Thanks.
