Why the wheels are black
In the production of automobile wheels from rubber, various additives are used. The basis is rubber. For its vulcanization add sulfur, which determines the quality of rubber. In addition to sulfur, chalk and talc are added to add volume and reduce the weight of the rubber. Emollients for rubber are wax and paraffin. And of course soot. Soot is a dye and filler of rubber. BUT still there is one important property of soot. Black soot, in the white "white". The soot's property is such that in ultraviolet light, soot behaves like an absolutely white body, it reflects ultraviolet light. Absorption of the color spectrum of sunlight does not harm the wheel like the ultraviolet, which heats up and destroys the rubber.
Therefore, a black wheel containing soot reflects ultraviolet light, although it would seem that the black color of the wheel had to absorb it.
