Who sets purposes for us?
In the continuation of the topic of how our world is arranged Quotes from the book Gayides MA General theory of systems:
"In the previous post I wrote about the so-called "animal" desires. But there are still desires dictated by higher motives. If we see that someone else is suffering, we also suffer and want to help him (moral suffering). And while helping us to separate something from ourselves, depriving ourselves of something to give to another, we are still happy (the happiness of the altruist). Perhaps in these cases we set ourselves these higher purposes-the necessities? No, we always do this only on the basis of higher ideals. Therefore, these higher ideals force us to act (they set purposes for us), but not ourselves. These goals-necessities are necessary for higher ideals (what is this - this is another conversation), but not for us. Our desires are only our aspirations to fulfill the purpose. And the purpose-task, as already noted above, is assigned to any system, including ourselves, from the outside. For us, we do not set purposes, assignments, for us we set only purposes-aspirations. Objectives can be set only before other systems.
They can argue, how so, here I set myself the purpose-task to enter the university and do everything for this purpose. I myself put this purpose and no one in me did not implement it! All right, we set such purposes ourselves, but they are a subgoal of higher purposes. Having received education we will get better conditions for our existence. Consequently, the main purpose was existence under good conditions. Choosing the purpose - to study at the university, we choose the path by which we can achieve our purpose. Some choose study, but others choose trade, play cards or lottery, robbery, speculation, deception, search for treasures, etc. In other words, we always choose not the ultimate purpose, but the ways of achieving the purpose, depending on our own capabilities, inclinations, mentality and understanding of the World. We do not have the freedom to choose the purpose-task, but there is freedom to choose only the purpose-pursuit and the ways to achieve it. And for this purpose-aspiration, we can set sub-purposes for other lower hierarchies of systems on the ladder, which for them are already task purposes. Thus, the purpose-task from the external system is transformed into a purpose-aspiration for a given system and is divided into a number of sub-purposes for the subsystems of this system, which they will fulfill as their purpose-aspirations."
"Then if not we, then maybe there are other systems that can set themselves purposes independently of anything? Perhaps, starting from some particular level of complexity of the system, they themselves can do it?"
