The power of light~ it powers our universe, in controls our orbit, it grows our food, brightens our days and it literally nourishes our souls. Vitamin D is absorbed in our bodies through direct sunlight on our skin. Vitamin D helps encourage serotonin production. Serotonin activates genes in our body that balance our immune systems and release neurotransmitters in our brains aiding in hormonal balance and sleep patterns.

Colors are produced by refracting or dispersing pure white light . Colors have been used in healing modalities dating back to ancient Egypt. Patients were known then to sit under specific colors in glassed rooms or wear thin colored silks to absorb healing color energy through their skin. Today color therapy is being used with stroke victims, in chronic depression cases and to get over basic jet lag.

I can't express in my own life how a sunrise can just wake me up from my daze and leave me in awe of the world again. The thank fullness one can feel being in the light of a rainbow, seeing the first green of spring or the glow of aqua waters, it does feel as if something truly soul shifting is going on being in the light of color when it's at it's finest.

Green is known to aide in fighting depression. It is said it can calm the nervous system by reducing agitation, eliminating insomnia and in doing so can help prevent nervous breakdowns.

Just sitting in the late afternoon light watching the colors spread across the land can bring calm to the end any rough day. Get outside in the light, be healthy and enjoy the beauty of the colorful world all around us!
